We have a track day organised at the beginning of the 2001 season. It means that people can start the year on the right footing, letting their hair down in a safe environment (compared to most race tracks that is). A whole day on the Bedford Autodrome Grand Turisimo circuit - three point six miles of it no less!. This will be called the Bigger the Better and is intended to be a fine partner to the Wetter the Better courses we have run for some time. For those customers of ours who have asked in the past about a follow up to the wetter the better. The date for the Bigger the Better is 24th March. It will cost £235 if you book before January 25th The price Goethe up to £255 after Jan 25th so book now and get the place and the discount… Format The format of the day will be that of an open pit lane from 9.30 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 17.00 with 50 vehicles out on track at any one time. We will have full use of the Trackside suite all day and refreshments will be available. The day will start with a briefing which is mandatory. This will be followed by a series of tours of the circuit for those who have never been there. This will take the form of a “ducks and drakes” follow my leader session. The day will start at a relatively modest pace and the general speed will be restricted for at least the first hour of the day. A number of very experienced instructors and track experts will be on hand during the day to give advice and demonstration drives. These people will have an extra sticker on their vehicles and will expect to be approached by the less experienced throughout the day. This is an opportunity to see how someone else does it, it’s up to you to take advantage of the situation. A professional photographer will provide prints on the day or to order afterwards. Noise restrictions The static noise level measured at 0.5m from the exhaust pipe with the engine at 4500 rpm must not exceed 101 db(A) which shall be measured by Bedford staff prior to the vehicle being allowed out on the circuit. The drive by noise measured 20m from the centre line of the vehicle passing at at least 60 mph and accelerating maximally must not exceed 87 db(A). If there is any doubt about your vehicles ability to pass the noise t test then it is possible to have it checked by prior arrangement with Bedford Autodrome – let me know if this is the case and we can arrange for this to happen. Other facilities and special requirements There will be no racing permitted. The organisers reserve the right to exclude anyone who is deemed to be acting irresponsibly and there will be no refund or appeal Helmets must be worn by all participants. Seat belts must also be worn when they are fitted to the vehicle. Passengers will not be allowed in the back of four-seater vehicles unless they are sitting next to a door. No persons under the age of sixteen are permitted at the venue nor are animals (other than humans) permitted at the venue. Fire & rescue vehicle and operator are provided as are paramedic and vehicle and recovery truck. Standard marshalling cover is also provided. All participants are required to sign a standard registration and indemnity provided by Bedford Autodrome. Fuel is available on site at some cost. Track insurance will be available on the day. Payment Please make cheques payable to Driving Development Send them to Driving Development, PO Box 711, Maidenhead, SL6 1XT Tel/Fax 01628 784911 Email Bigger@drivingdevelopment.co.uk We look forward to enjoying your company again. FIFTY on the track at the same time - it's going to be like Oxford in the rush hour! Surely not the safest environment either then!

To fatbloke, How many cars in all on the day. 50 on the track is okay. If too many there might be a wait to get on.

Hello Don, Fifty on Bedford Autodrome is no problem at all, have been there many times with RMA during the last year, the circuit is huge, and fifty cars gives just about the right amount of traffic. You've gotto remember that not many punters are like us ex HPC bods who just drive and drive, most people only do a very few laps in each session, so usually there are as many cars parked up as are on the track. See you there. Regards, Tim.
