Who's a guru at doing restoration work?

Just looking for tips really.

I started out with a set of images which I have mostly photographed rather than scanned, so that I can preserve as much detail in a NEF (RAW) file then in TIFF format.

The most difficult to see before I even photographed it was the one below, as shot and then on an early attempt to make a few adjustments.

Suffice to say this lady's descendants are delighted to be able to see anything - even to make out that it is a dog on her lap!

By coincidence two days ago I was given a photograph of a 1924 debutante to 'see what I could do' - the emulsion was missing in thousands of tiny places. However it was simply laborious work with the clone tool to fix.

I'd have no idea where to start with yours Beano!
