Can anyone say hand on heart that this is the TVR that will stay with you for ever!!! As long as possible, without getting into a 'forever definition' debate?

I have had 5 TVR's, and thought this for most of them, keep til i die!

1. TVR 350i '88 F, spent bloomin fortune on, thought it would be buried with me. Had limited knowledge with these cars, but knew about TVR for years! When i drove it home i felt like a million £££. Biggest grin. WOW what a car.

2. TVR 400SE '90 G, discovered a bigger version of above. Thought it was the dogs b's, but then realised it wasn't the nicest 400/450 out there and had what i always thought distracted away from the car, high miles 78,000 miles. It was also white which was often ridiculed at the time as a terrible colour for any car. I liked it but i listened to people & it had an effect. Also was missing it's original Oz split rims, had after market 18" Azevs. Sacrelidge!(sp).

3. TVR 450 Chimaera '99 T, decided that my next TVR was going to be as new as possible, in as best condition as possible, low miles etc... & obviously had to move away from my favourite TVR's - the Wedges. This car was staying with me forever though! Nope, kept it the least, just didn't do it for me. Also loads about, didn't feel to special. Shame, wife liked it, and was in mint condition. Starting to learn fast by now.

4. TVR 400SE, '91 H, back to owning a Wedge, (After a brief..ish flirtation with a new car, a Ford Focus ST3 in orange of course!}*
Mint Wedges are becoming hard to find. Quite rare and specialised cars, and i wanted one of the best i could find. Low miles, loads of s/h, had it all. Even the interior usually quite weak with the cars. Even had original Oz split rims! This was it, my high days & hol car, kept in heated/carpeted garage. Everything about it stood out. Looks, condition, miles (less than 32,000), and sounded like thunder. Only -ve...it was green, not my favest colour, but given the clay/wax/polish etc treatment' looked stunning in the sun.
So, bar a lottery win, this was the long term TVR for me. I was happy with this TVR, a keeper.

Until..had to happen.

5. TVR 450 SEAC '90 G, to me... the ultimate Wedge, if not up there with potentially ultimate TVR.
There it was advertised, here on PH, and the ad was hours old. Could i? Should i? DARE i call the guy about it??
SWMBO would take me apart quicker than a medieval torturer!
I called the guy, & made arrangements to view car. Hardest of all was explaining to my wife WHY after just a few months of current car ownership (the one i said i would never sell) why suddenly i want to sell it.
I explained it was again in mint condition, recent very expensive bills for engine/paint etc..just those 2 in excess of 12k. But it wasn't that that did it for me it was the fact that it was a 450 SEAC, in totally original condition. Does need some work, dash is cf. Not for me, total interior recon due this summer.
I just love this car, people stop and ask me about it, as even though it's 18 years old, it doesn't look it. In fact quite a few have asked if it's some new British upstart firm or say just plain "wow". Then of course i start it up.
I have had fitted a new JP super super sports exhaust system from Tim at ACT. Oh my..........it's an unholy noise. It isn't just noise though, it's quality grumbling, growling at tickover to absolute howls when you drive it harder. Best bit, when you take your foot off the accelerator. Pops & bangs on the overrun...a plenty. My wife thinks it's just plain silly and should act my age more, 37 instead of 12. biggrin
I adore this car.
It is very rare, one of 12-18 built...in the world, ever.
It is a beautiful seal blue colour that looks fabulous in...any weather.
Now, i am NOT deriding or putting down other TVR's, but for me, i have found my Holy Grail of TVR cars. And this one IS a keeper.

Thanks,
Please God let there be enough decent sunny blue sky days for myself & my fellow enthusiasts to get out there and enJoy 2009.

Cheers. smile

Edited to add:Some pic's of the cars, apologies for qulity of some. Camera phones to blame. Also pic of mid TVR life crisis car.*

Excellent read
Lots of emotion there

I too long for a TVR (again)
When time and money allow it will be a Tamora with a T350 front end and Sagaris type rear lights - keeper!
Yes I feel the need to mod however thats just to make it "mine"

For now I just have to play in whatever the finances allow

TVRs are special! smile

<LOL> I dont seem to have much trouble buying TVRS.. upto 5 now yikes but selling them seems more of an issue !!!!! The Tuscan racer is up for sale now to fund the sag racer, so hopefully thats not a keeper..

The taz racer is def not going anywhere ever, and the plan for the sag racer is that'll be a keeper as well...

Think I'd agree with this.... even with a lottery win I think I'd add to my garage rather than replace. I've only ever had one TVR (Griff 500), but I drove this as an everyday car for the best part of 4 years and never tired of it. smile

You can get 'used' to the performance but if that's the case take a break, store it / SORN it if you can. There have been a number of posts recently by people who left the fold to try something different only to return as they miss the thrill of a TVR. I think people who really understand TVR's will always return if they can smile

As for different models within TVR ?!??! I have to say I like the look of the Sagaris and Tuscan... but wouldn't trade the Griff for one. An addition yes, but I couldn't trade away my V8. cloud9

Or is that just greedy? biggrin

First and last.
(Unless I can afford to keep two, in which case I want a Saggy as well!)

My Grffith is for keeps. Don't want a newer for many previously debated reasons. One of the last RV8 cars ever built and after 6yrs and 60k miles it stills makes me smile.

Any other sports car purchases will have to be in addition to this.

I've only had three, but instantly regretted selling each one.
I bought the last one back, after it being out of my life for eighteen months.

There must be some sort of addiction going on here. hehe

It looks like my spare cash is all spoken for during the coming year too. rolleyes...always something to replace or improve upon.

Happy New Year to all of you, and your ever-empty wallets...looking forward to some fun in the SUN. cloud9

Nope. Had mine for twelve months and that's something of a record. However, my father has had his M-Series (TVR) since new and I can't see him selling it. One owner for 37 years (and counting) is pretty good I'd say...

Yep, I intend to keep my Tamora for as long as I possibly can. Can't see anything that can replace it.
You can still get spare parts for it, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Tamora might become a sort after car later on.

Both mine are forever cars.

Next will be Dad's Griff - the pearl white press car - if Jason will part with it that is.

Other than that, will also get a 4.5LW cerb and then I am done I think and will start collecting other marques. Lottery Win required...!

I always wanted a Chimarea from the time I first saw one. I bought my 450 4 years ago and plan to never be parted from her. Although I may in future have to add a 400 wedge to keep her company.

I havent told the Mrs about this plan yet
