DivX movie downloads - HELP!!!

Just downloaded Kill Bill via WinMX. It's DivX compressed and in .avi format, but when I attempt to play it, all I can get is the sound from the movie. No picture! Have downloaded a DivX player, but still just sound playing. I've downloaded a couple of things before with the same result. What's wrong???

your mising a codec or two m8
thats the problem

get the ac3 codec
and an mpeg4 one
dont delete the movie its fine


its posible its not a divx may be a xvid
if so need xvid codec

they end with avi too

but due to sound does sound like AC3 codec is mising

man you still dont use peer to peer

takes ages for new stuff to get to the likes of winmx and kazzar.

pluss its way to slow to download.

we had a it ages ago.

join the big boys and get the stuff much faster.

Cheers Outlaw. Got the codec and now works fine.

Another problem with peer2peer - you never know whether the file name of the file you're downloading has any correlation with the file itself. As proven by my copy of Quentin Tarantino's new hit 'Kill Bill' actually being Al Pacino's 'Scarface' when I opened it up! D'oh!

Where can I join the big boys and play?!?

GAZ find a copy of "Gspot" and download it. Then run it and open the video file, it'll tell you which audio and video codecs you need and if you have them or not.

yep best keep gspot for next one its handy.

but i knew from systoms what codec was missing.

I've had the same problem with a file. I downloaded Gspot and ran it for the file. It found 2 compatible video codecs and 4 compatible audio codecs. I play the film and it still doesn't work, i only get sound.

Does this mean the file is not going to work on my computer? If i put it on to CD and play it on a DVD player would it work ok?

Appreciate the help.

mm you dont give enouthg info for me to make a guess.

sound and no pic is ushall a missing ac3 codec

it is all so posible that some codects are coruped on your pc.

IF you cant find one to play it .

I would recomend removing/uninstall alll codecs

and then reinstalling the comon ones.

learn about FXP`ing and related boards

hacking servers for pubstros is a usefull skill.
make the right contacts and join a groupe

The best idea it simply to use kazaa lite (AVI Preview will help you determine if the film your downloading is the right one), or pay for a subscription to <a href="http://www.easynews.com.">www.easynews.com.</a> And to stay away from doing anything bad unless you really know what your getting your self into, as access to the top sites isnt worth a) the effert required to have access to them, b) the risks involved (All IMHO).

e.g. Someone was at uni, started spending far too much time on IRC, started doing cracks for a small warez group. He had lots of spare time as he was a lazy git and hardly went into uni to work , but graduated up through a few groups (got good access to sites/etc.). Until one day a few companies didn’t like what we were doing started fingerprinting there software, and the suppliers got found out. At this stage they decided to grass everyone up and the group dispended and a few people got criminal records (luckily mostly yanks).

Moral of the story:
If you do decide to peruse a role doing dodgy stuff, 1) don’t give out any info to people on IRC, e.g. name/location/etc. 2) don’t meet up with people on IRC 3) never trust anyone on IRC 4) keep sensitive stuff on a crypted partition 5) never go onto IRC with your own ip (use a bounce) 6) etc.

When searching for a film in kazaa lite, make sure that you expand the search results for a particular file, and make sure that all the filename's and titles match (ie. if its a new release and there is 100 kill bill file names and 5 silence of the lambs then chances are it isn’t kill bill .
