Is there a fast (motor sport capable) pocket camera?

Does anyone know of a slim-line camera that can fit in the pocket but also have the ability to capture action shots?

I'm looking for a pocket digital stills camera that is capable of capturing motorsport. I have a reasonable SLR that does this successfully but the pocket cameras I have tried tend to sample the image moments after the button is pressed causing the image to be captured after the desired time, for motorsport this usually means the moment has passed.

The phrase 'cyber-shot' is often banded about to imply instant sampling. The Sony Cyber-shot™ T77 may fit the bill but I'd rather not spend £150+ and then find it still can't capture fast moving objects.

Any advice would be most welcome

Some of them can do a motor drive of sorts, but you may still have issues with the focus speed - I haven't done any sports stuff with my Sony compact but has been excellent elsewhere...

How bigs your pocket?

An out of the box solution might be to sell the slr and buy an olympus e-420 which really is incredibly small and will be better than a point and shoot.

Not quite that big, the olympus e-420 looks good but it's a little bigger than I was trying to achieve.
