How the F$$$ do you change the battery in the Passat B5?

Have unclipped the rubber bar that holds various cables/pipes & still can't get the bloody battery out.

The only other solution I can see is to remove the wipers & scuttle.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

PITA of a job, the easiest way is to remove wipers and scuttle, althought it can be done without removing them.

The battery has to slide to the right then up and out (when looking at the windscreen from front of the car) in the pollen filter area (you may need to remove the pollen filter housing, 2 or 3 10mm nuts)

Check the web incase somebody has done a photo guide, but its definatley not simple and will probably result in bruised/scraped knuckles and somne spanner throwing rantingbiglaugh

Cheers Daz

half tempted to just take it to VW & get them to change it, but I guess that will cost £££'s , considering the battery itself from Halfrauds was £100.

Will try again tomorrow morning
