The comments about thier carbon wheel being a strand wound process is intresting. That's the way that helicopter rotor blades are built and done properly would be considerably stronger that mat layup. The tooling to do that is really exspensive. I would guess that Forgeline is out-sourcing that part of the wheel to a specalist company. one of the attractive parts of this kind of construction is that any fastner holes are formed by an insert for the fastner to pass through. This insert is weaved into the design. With this kind of construction the cause for concern mentioned about the mating between hub and rim section recentley in the thread on the wheel failure is gone. To give you an idea a Blackhawk M model blade built this way will take a 20mm round through the blade and continue flight at least in a controled manner to the ground. The construction technique will disallow the hole from spreading beyond the initail damage. All that said I bet the cost will exceed $2000 a rim in a 18 by 13. Lee

The carbon wheels will be available in Ultima sizes around June 09.
There is also a new one piece forging that is lighter than the 3 piece that will be available in those sizes soon.

From what Forgeline told me, the prices for the carbon wheels are currently set at 1500 a piece.

1500 sounds very competitive in comparison to Dymags carbon wheels which cost nearly an 1000 more.
