As the title says really, wife's Mk4 Tdi is like a sauna, no matter what she does with the heater it's only blowing hot.

Any ideas as to which bit I should hit with a hammer first?

lol just hang onto that hammer of yours!!!

im guessing the car has AC or climatronic? if there is no real difference in the temperature then it could be that the system needs a re gas (£70 at dealer) at which point you want to look for leaks in the system - has the issue just started all of a sudden or has it been a noticable decline so to speak.
It could also be that the heater control unit has failed, I believe there is a resister inside the unit that can be replaced.

Ok hammer on standby. Thanks Dave, it was regassed a couple of months ago and it's happened all of a sudden so it sounds like it could be the resistor. I'll pop it into the dealers after Xmas.

Our 2006 A6 does this also.

Switching the ignition off and back on sorts it until the next time so I reckon it's electrical.

I'd be interested if anyone has a solution too.
