With the closure of 3 separate TVRCC-related threads within the last 2 weeks, there does seem to be a greater level of sensitivity on this subject of late (although a degree of antagonism was evident in certain contributions). Could the Moderators (or forum owners) clarify whether there is a new stance that applies to discussions involving the TVRCC?

I feel that I may be answering my own question, but presumably the name & shame rules apply in this situation, since the TVRCC is a limited company and therefore a business. Have there been any moderator reports or complaints by or on behalf of the TVRCC as to any content here?

If the answers to any of the above are in the affirmative, this would seem to preclude entirely the voicing of any negative sentiment in that direction on these fora.

Since it is not easy to conduct such discussions in the “more appropriate places” (impossible for a non-member) the alternative appears to be: say nothing.

I have to agree here. As an ex-RO and national events coordinator, and now a non-member, I do like to keep in touch with the progress of the club. PH is the only place I can do this.

The message that closed PH threads sends to people gives the impression that the Club is hiding something. Possibly 'head in the sand' attitude to its problems.

There seems to be a lot of thread closures happening on the TVRCC forums as well.

That's another story, it's why member post stuff here. Heavy handed TVRCC moderating was a problem when I was a member, it sounds like there's still an issue. No dissenting voices allowed by order of the management smile

TBH, I don't think most of the modding has been too heavy handed over the last couple of years, although there will always be some judgements that not all of us will agree with.

Sadly, there has been some rather childish point scoring recently and some of them that have not got their own way have chosen to stir it here too. This is very different from spirited discussion. People clearly should be able to make comments but there have been a lot of insulting comments made where there has been no need. Many of the squabbles have been pathetic and have detracted from both fora. Hopefully, both will improve smile

This is Pistonheads not the TVRCC forums, if you have something to say perhaps you need to do it on their website. If they then close the threads then that’s an issue you’ll have to discuss with the TVRCC directly. Pistonheads has no connection with the TVRCC and thus has no reason to be an outlet for any negative discussions about the TVRCC or any other car club for that matter.

This is the same stance we hold in regards to any other such organisation.

Please do not continue to post negative comments as it is actually breaking the no naming & shaming rules of this website."

As far as non members knowing what's going on at the TVRCC website, all I can humbly suggest is that you

1) "Ring a Friend" if you have any,
or
2) “Rejoin the Club” if they'll have you back.
or
3) Write a jolly stiff letter to Sprint.

Not wishing to stir anything, but I would just refer any TVRCC member to the September minutes on the TVRCC website.

Late to the party guys as I've been out today.

Al says it all guys, and I can't add anything to that as it makes perfect sense.

I'd rather we didn't have another thread started about it, but i'm happy to discuss with anyone who wants to do that. Please mail me through the PM system.

My post contains no "negative comments" about the TVRCC or it's website. Kindly explain how you have interpreted it thus or withdraw the accusation that I am breaking the rules. Perhaps you have mistakenly assumed that I was referring to closure of threads on the TVRCC site. Since I haven't visited the site for about 9 months, I have no idea what's going on over there.

I can't say that I find your condescending comments particularly helpful. The speculation that non-TVRCC members have no friends, and that ex-members may not be welcomed back are particularly childish. I can only imagine that you have an agenda relating to your membership of that club.

FYI, I've been a member since '88, so I don't need to check if I have any friends, and I've tried number 3 (well, emailing the Chairman and other committee members) to no avail, which is why I keep in touch with TVR matters through PH, and not the TVRCC site.

To summarise your message therefore, we should all keep quiet.

I must say I felt the same. Big Al, you're normally quite fair about these things so why be so rude to people this time.

I know the Club would have me back and did in fact invite me to get even more involved. I made a decision to focus my efforts somewhere else.

C'mon Al, you have a good reputation on here for your modding, Number7 has asked a reasonable question and that's not like your reasonable response.

Maybe it would have had a different response in the Website Feedback forum, I dunno ?

OK apologise if you found my post condescending it wasn't meant to be that way But it appears that the any feeble attempt at light humour failed on this occasion.

No.7 I find I also find your assumption that I'm a TVRCC member or have any inkling into the inner workings of the TVRCC also condescending. For the record I an NOT a TVRCC member. Unlike you I have no right to go onto the website nor do I have any right to have any input as to how they run their organisation. If I did want to know what was going on I would renew my membership, IF they'd allow me back that is. IF you want to change the way the club is run then do it by numbers or leave and let them get on with it.

So if you have many friends, great talk to them numbers count in the voting game.

You are currently a member so option 2 isn't an option, number 3 you've tried and you say it's fallen on death ears. Sorry nothing I can do there.

The point about no naming and shaming was a generalisation and not directed at this thread or any other you have participated on. So you can post what you want when you but anything negative or derogatory will be deleted.
WHY?
Because the TVRCC are a business and as such have paid employees whose livelihood could be adversely affected by bad print, now this situation is not unique to the TVRCC so they will be given the same respect and consideration as any other company or organisation that gets mentioned on PH.

As for being childish, well perhaps not childish perhaps just a little tired of all the nay-sayers that come creeping out of the woodwork to have a dig at some of the hardworking people that make things happened and try to strengthen the ties that are TVR.

As I’ve said before sometime I’m dammed if I do, and sometimes I’m dammed if I don’t.

It doesn't sound like your usually fair objectivity to me either Al, maybe mods should step aside of topics where they have a 'vested' interest? (thats for their own protection - not knocking). Can't we respect the synergy that TVRCC & PH have please, more a kind of friendly club co-operation.

I, like others, am not a TVRCC member anymore, but really dislike the way the negativity between PH & TVRCC flares up at times. Criticism with a constructive point is OK but when it turns into gang warfare close threads by all means wink Couldn't you just let the sin-bin do the work a bit more often instead of closing threads or is it still full of all PsuedoJigs hehe

Sorry not with you on the vested interest statement, I've no other vested interest other that keeping the name of TVR alive, jeeze I've spent enough money on the two little darlings I owned over the years.

Yep we still have the banning as a last option no one wants that see that happen, we have the sin bin that’s and option, we also now have powers to ban individuals from the forum for a period of time. Now that hasn't been used in the TVRCC forums before but could be an option to use in the future.

I really don't think any of the above are necessary if people as long as people don't keep airing TVRCC dirty washing on here.

As I've said, discuss and be positive it stays, name and shame and it gets deleted. That’s the rules.

What's the problem here, Big Al has given you the reason.( No need to apoligise in my book)Or are you all ex TVRcc members with an axe to grind.I don't give a "Monks Widget"either way .Get a Life.

The problem seems to be that any thread relating to the TVRCC on here ends up with a pro and anti lobby trying to score points.

There are clearly a significant minority of ex TVRCC members with axes to grind and use PH as the vehicle for this, not fair on PH if you want my opinion.

There are clearly a significant minority of existing TVRCC members who do likewise.

The thin line being walked by the majority is that we are not TVRCC members, but may have been who are interested to know what is going on 'over there' and use PH as a means of talking to members of both TVRCC and PH for a bit of cross pollenation if you will.

If everyone would keep their personal gripes to themselves(I'm guilty of letting the keyboard run away with me too) then I can see no reason for a bit of discussion not to happen.
