front spots dont work

My front spots on my S3C dont work,(the ones low down near the ground) in fact they didn;t when i bought it nearly a year ago...... is there anything i can check before i resort to a dealer for help?
any advice greatly welcome, cheers mark

The front fogs run off a relay and also have a 25 amp fuse (all under the glove box)worth checking these.

Also how about checking there's power at the fog lamp switch.

If these all check out ok, check there's power in the loom just before it feeds the lights, both lights may have blown? might sound a long shot but worth ruling out.

Mine only come on with main beam ... just in case you were assuming otherwise.

Took me ages to work this one out. Switch needs to be on and then you need full beam as well.

The connectors connecting the spot wiring to the front loom rot, they are not waterproof. To check, disconnect the connector which should be just a two pin type, then with a piece of wire and a bulb connect the two terminals and turn on the light, if the bulb is illuminated you have power and the fault is with the light or its wiring. When reassembling grease all connectors with a suitable electricians grease.

Typically mine go off on full beam!! and come on when dipped. i.e acting like fogs... I'd rather they didn't as I hardly ever drive in fog so they never get used. Would it be simple to rewire it so that the driving lights come on with full beam?

As we are talking TVRs the cars will vary. My S3c had the lights wired as Fogs - they worked with side lights or dipped beam but went out with full beam. The V8S has them wired as Driving Lamps - ie they work only on full beam, I feel this is a better option.

If yours do not work either way, I'd check the fuse, relay etc and then the bulbs - one thought, does the switch on the dash light up? If not then its more likely to be fuse / relay / wiring / switch than the bulbs.

Concur, they only come on with Main Beam with the new toy. However the manufacturers S handbook that came with it does say they come on with side or dipped headlights? just to confuse the issue.

I've got twin driving lights on my S3. They are wired to operate on full beam only - and they both work.

Questions
1. The beam alignment is poor, how do people suggest they be adjusted?
2. The centre dash panel warning light for these spots is not working, I assume it is simply a blown bulb? How difficult is it to get at the switch to check or replace the warning light. Bible suggests that the switch was sourced from a TR7.

Thanks god for PH searches - I thought my drivers lights were broken, especially as both lenses are cracked, but lo and behold switch on to full beam and away they glow.

Just need to sort of the near-side main beam now, hopefully just a simple bulb change.
