Hi All,

Does anyone here run a Jet Boat (as in impeller type, not rocket!)?

The Mrs and I are looking at buying one from New Zealand for use on rivers and locks up in Scotland.

We are looking at the standard type 152a on this site -

http://www.hamiltonmarine.co.nz/index.cfm/Hamilton...

or

http://www.jetboat.com/models/pleasure/

Many thanks.

You could try posting on the NZ forum here. I know theres one or two boaters there.
I only know of the famous Hamilton jet boat that I grew up with. Pretty crappy to ski behind because of wake etc but awesome up rivers biggrin

Hi Kylie,

Yes of course - I should have thought of that (being a Wellingtonian and all!).

Many thanks and a very Merry Christmas to you (oh how I long for a hot Christmas by the beach!)

Cheers,

Jason.

I am building one at the moment...
140 horsepower Subaru motor in a 14 foot aluminium Hull.
Single stage hamilton jet unit.
It should plane on wet grass.

Not exactly for fun but am now on 3rd build in the commercial sector. Jets are very good, highly manouverable just take care not to be in too shallow water where there is sand/stones as the impellors cost to replace. You will not regret such a boat for what you have in mind, have fun!
