Hi Guys,

Just hopefully an easy question for you ... - as always, thanks in advance.

When using studio lights and a dark backgroud for portrait shots, how do you set up to get the background totally black.

Thanks,

Martin

Leave plenty of room between the subject and the background, and pay attention to not getting any light spill on the background. It also helps if the only lights in the room are your modelling lights, to prevent any ambient light being cast on your background.

I'm no expert, and there is possibly more that you can do to get the result you want, but I know the steps I have suggested are all in the right direction to help you achieve those results.
