Does anybody know of anyone / where that makes aluminium dial surrounds to replace / cover the existing black plastic ones on an early Griff - or of other ways to make them match an increasing amount of Leven hardware?

I tried this a couple of years ago when I had my 4.0 Griff. Leven wont make them because there just isn't the demand. Its a bit dissapointing because the chrome ones look much better...

Sorry guys but with 2 different types of instruments and 2 sizes of dials plus you will need 6 bezels per car (not a small cost)together with there not being many takers the job was not viable. There has been an earlier topic on this and I think some of you found a way to paint them, try a search back in the gassing station.

Take a look at the dash on the Griffith at: www.pistonheads.net/tvr/index.asp?storyId=2792 these instruments were the Stuart Warner gauges with black bezels. Underneath the black is stainless steel. Carefully wet-and-dry the paint off and polish to a mirror finish. you can then give them a nice satin finish using Scotchbrite. It takes a bit of time but is worth it.

I got some aluminium dial surrounds for my S3 then some Chrome ones for my Chimeare from a company in London called Speedy Cables. The spedo and rev counter ones just pushed over the old dials, the smaller dials I had to remove and take to them and they replaced them for me. I think it was about £10 for the large ones and £5 for the small ones. You can find Speedy Cables detailas at http://freespace.virgin.net/matt.buckell/TestPad/Speedy_Cables/

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Nick

They come as standard, well brushed ally rather than chrome on the new Chim's. Perhaps the factory could help out?

Matt.

Unfortunately they are permanenetly attached to the gauge by the manufacturer (C.A.) and are a different size.
