For those of you that don't know, there is an Airfield day on Saturday 2nd March at Elvington (near York). 2, 2 mile runways forming an oval. There is a LOT of run off space, and apparantly there wll be a "Play" area too. I'm driving up there with another 7 Cerbera's, but the day is open to anyone. Who's up for seeing just how fast you can go with a 2 mile straight in front of you ???? Price should be £60, as long as there are enough people interested....

The guy organising it is contactable on garry.foster@bt.com, or it's in the "Track Days" part of Pistonheads (www.pistonheads.com/trackdays/calendar.asp).

Come on, who's got the guts to take on 8 Cerbera's.....

Shouldn't these "Track Day" threads be in the "Track Day" forum?

Probably, but I thought more people might look at it if it was in general...

Can't the TVRs handle corners then.

Even my 2 tonne M5 can handle a couple of hairpins and chicanes now and then when I go to Elvington!

The 2 mile straights sound tempting though.

Well, the Cerbera's can handle them fine , but apparantly the last day there, a Tuscan managed to spin at 160 !!!!! (on the straight ?????????)

I'm surprised manufacturers have not made an emergency braking system that turns all 4 wheels 90 degrees to aid stopping - as everyone who has spun at a track day knows just how fast a car can stop when going sideways.

I measured my 100-0 distances at 90m normal, 50m sideways!

Modern TVRs have got one of these designed in from the start - its called 'too much rear brake bias' and automatically turns the whole car ninety degrees if you brake hard. If you are going fast enough it will even turn the car a hundred and eighty degrees into the ideal 'brace' position ready for any impact. Not even Volvo have this level of sophisticaton.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S with this safety feature removed)

I would do so but otherwise engaged unfortunately, having tesed my current runaround to an unflustered 300kmh in France i would be feeling fairly confident.
