Eurostar customer service...
Discussion
I travelled on the Eurostar for the first time this morning. Due to a huuuuge passort-related mistake, I couldn't travel on the train I was booked on last night, and then thanks to London Underground, missed the early train I was booked on this morning too!
Despite me having a non-exchangable, non-flexible ticket, they happily changed my booking twice, both times onto busy rush-hour trains. Moreover, every person I dealt with, both on the phone and in person at the station, was not only helpful and efficient but was also noticably pleasant in a way you simply don't see these days.
Is this the standard, or have I just hit them on Christmas bonus week?
(And on a side note, while I know I won't get a good rate at a booth in a station, paying £102 for 100 euros... was a sobering experience.

)Here in Oslo we have a super duper express train to the airport, if you get on the thing and it's delayed more than 10 minutes setting off, the staff issue you with a voucher to jump in a taxi. The train ticket works out at about 16 quid and the taxi is 50-60 during the day and 90 quid at night.
The thing I enjoy about Norway is with 4.5 million people, all large organisations are fearful of a bit of bad press and go the extra mile. Even with the public transport, Bus/Tram/Underground, any delay jump in a taxi and send them the bill.
On the flip side, I have to use public transport as cars are priced a bit keenly.

'93 Micra, moon and back, just shy of 1500 of your pounds. 300 in the Autotrader back in Blighty no doubt.
