Discussion
Hi everyone
For those of that are new to the world of S ownership each year there is an informal gathering for us all to get together. Here are some pic's of 2008's event to give you an idea......
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
S Club 2008 was put together by Barkychoc, Dave M, Mycroft, Gozzy and myself. Because S Club 2009 has been mentioned in a couple of other threads in recent weeks we thought it best to let you know that:
1. the 5 of us have met up to discuss what went well and what could have gone better at SCH08, and
2. thanks to the positive feedback we got in 2008 we are prepared to give it another go in 2009.
Lots of good ideas have been shared on the forum since S Club 2008 and we've taken those on board and are continuing to chat about them with other ideas we've come up with ourselves. Believe me, there is not a shortage of potential venues - at this rate we've got enough to keep us going for a few years yet!
We appreciate that it is impossible to please everyone but before finally choosing a venue we'll take into account the important things like entrance cost, location to be as central as possible, camping / accommodation nearby and at a reasonable price, other "attractions" for the day (as if standing in a field with a load of S's isn't enough!), date not to clash with anything else, toilets and food on site etc etc etc.....
Obviously if someone has a strong opinion that we are insane / incapable (!) or has already started working on arranging S Club 2009 please let us know and we'll be more than willing to get behind you and offer you our full support. Being good project managers we've even got a spreadsheet set up to list all of the tasks, successes and failures that went into and came out of 2008's event and this can be sent to any potential organisers if they'd like a copy.
Unless we hear otherwise we'll continue working on SCH09 and share more info with you as we get it.
Cheers for now,
Barkychoc, Dave M, Mycroft, Gozzy and Longers

Well done you lot, realy pleased to hear that you arnt dropping the baton. SCH08 was a great achievement difficult to see how it could be bettered (unless you can control the wind - weatherwise not bodily).
If I can help, at a distance, let me know.
Norman (and Gerald - he's looking forward to it as well)

Hey Guys - you get my support and if you do as good a job as you did for SCH08 I'm sure there will be no complaints...
mind you, you could put someone else in control of the weather

looking at those pics again though the weather could have been a lot worse...

I personally had a great time this year (it was my first one), and it was good to have it alongside another show. If you are thinking of Newark again, I'd be happy to help as I only live up the road from there. Perhaps it might be an idea to invite some TVR parts dealers/specialists...??
Cheers

Really enjoyed S club 08 [even if i did drink too much on the sat eve} I thought the venue with the kit car show there was perfect. The facilities for camping were also very good. The trade stands that were there for the kit brigade also were ideal for some of the S owners. I swear if TINKS had more spanners available he would have changed every single nut and bolt on his engine for stainless ones. All in all a great event and in my opinion a great venue for 09 as well, lets hope for better weather. I dont have an S now but iwill still be attending, i want to see gentleman geoff dancing on the tables again.[not a pretty site] p.s will they let farmers and their tractors onto the showground.
your recent purchase could come in very handy if the weather turns bad/wet you could help to tow people off the field.

After having such a good time at this year's SCH (my first), my 'navigator' and I are already planning next year's foray, which we hope to make a weekend of. Distance is not such a big issue, but the date is, because we both need advance notice to avoid clashes with other events.
So, thanks guys for such a good event this year and for rising to the challenge again for next year, and please give priority to setting the date so we can all put it in our diaries!

Even though I don't have a TVR S (I have a Cerbera), I thought I would give it ago earlier this year, I was not disappointed, it was a great bit of organising and a great venue, and if I remember right, free too, also by the number of cars that came with me from the South-Yorks region it would be an event we would attend again, the wind could have ruined the event, but it didn't (loved the idea of taping everything to the table) everyone did a great job and made us none "S" owners a real friendly welcome, thank you all and roll on 2009.
I was working during SCH 08 but I can't wait for next years event, come hell and high water I will be there, I don't care where it is I will be there. I have had my S now for 1 year and due to work commitments I have not been to any shows in it, 2009 will be different.
well done to all you guys giving up their time to organise it, absolutley fantastic.
Cheers.....Tony..

Steve j; Gaydon sounds an interesting option, I've neverbeen but TVRCC hold their AGM there.
MartyM; do consider coming, our northern friends certainly had a good time in the convoy and the, erm table dancing
.
Everyone, many thanks for the warm comments, they do help. We'd certainly be looking for non-S TVRs to attend too (friends from SY, EM and other regions really added to this year's event - a fantasic sight), we always wanted to be 'inclusive' but with a natural focus on the S.
Ian has been working hard already, making initial enquiries. We are aware of the need to have a date ASAP and we will try and avoid some obvious clashes (F1 GP, Le Mans etc) but as the calender gets crowded I doubt we will avoid everything. Whatever happens will need to be a form of compromise. We do need someone in charge of the weather too....
I'm quite excited now, we should also see a fully rejuvenated V8S from Barkychoc

Hats off to Barkychoc, Dave M, Mycroft, Gozzy and Longers for stepping up to the plate and organising SCH2009! Let's hope you can offer as good an event as you managed this year. SCH2008 was great fun... at least I think it was? The bits I can remember were good, anyway!

I might have to restrict that service to S Series owners only, Tom.

My trade manager at work reckons it`s a cracking museum, it will give us something to do. S club was at Coventry and the transport museum was really good too.http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/index.html
I've seen from Google Earth and what's that right next to it??? Looks like a race track!
