In car 956 ??

If so it's got a great lap of the Nurbergring ... with Derek being overtaken by a flying Jackie Ickx.

Another top video is The Speed Merchants:
www.dukevideo.com/products/7221.htm
It's a season of the '72 Sports car series.

The best video has to be 'In Car 956'
The laps of the old Nurburgring are amazing, must make the trip before I get old and boring.
But keep thinking about buying the Ruf Porsche Video 'Fazination'
(Or something like that) the amount of plugs it gets in EVO it must be good, but a bit expensive if I remember (about £35)

I bought the RUF video, "Faszination on the Nurburgring" after reading about it about a million times in EVO. Its only a 20-30 minute vid, but its entertaining. It shows the RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" going sideways around the 'Ring with in-car, trackside and helicopter footage. The driver, Stefan, has lovely white socks.
I gave them a ring (!), and their number as it appears on the box is: 0 82 65/10 12, fax: 0 82 65/12 13. I can't remember what I paid. Its the ideal vid for putting on after the pub when you know that you would fall asleep if you tried to watch all of The Empire Strikes Back.
I recently bought the DVD "Track Day Warriers" by Duke Video. Its an OK introduction to the track day scene, with good footage in parts including a 22B at the 'Ring, various Caterhams, and even an interview with a bloke with my car, the E30 M3. Sad people like me will see quite a few mistakes though. The yellow Boxter isn't, its a 996 cabriolet. That Cerbera isn't either, its a Chimaera etc etc. Plus the music, low rent production has that oddly cheesy feel of a porno vid. Still, there isn't much like it out there at the moment. Oh yeah...the "Hot Laps" guide to tracks section.....is the driver of the Impreza Turbo at Donington reading this? You drive like my granny mate.

I only bought the Track Day Warriors video as I was at a track day that they were filming.

They said I was in the "Big Heavy Saloon" category

As an introduction to track days it is fine, but I was hoping for a bit more action!

Are you the bloke in the yellow M5?
Just thought, another video I watch from time to time is Ruby Wax's Hot Wax featuring the Gumball Rally. Some quality lunatics in 355's 360's etc. Still not sure how the bloke in the white 355 convertible survived after barrel-rolling it in Estonia, I think it was. A few RS holes in there too mind.

I was watching Jackass on e4 last night, and it was an hour long Gimball rally special - much beter than the Ruby Wax version - Those guys are F***ing mental

It showed the guy who barrel rolled the Ferrari after the accident, his ear was nearly ripped off, and he had got it sewn back on, and rejoind the rally as a passenger!!!

Jackass has to be the best after pub telly ever! It's on MTV more often and more up to date, the Gumball one was about 3 months ago on MTV, takes me back to my youth, Steve-O rules!

agreed on In Car 956 - some great footage on that. lap of the 'ring was superb.

the recent in car footage from the gumball3000 in the US rates highly too! www.bmwm5.com/movies then gumball2002 (88MB, but worth every Kb!)

The Derek Bell laps in a 956 around the Nordschliffe and Le Mans and 2 laps of the Ring in the RUF Porsche can be downloaded along with other great vids from this site.

Re: In-Car 956.

Bought this a couple of years ago and drag it out regularly whenever I feel the need to drool and yelp with excitement (girlfriend notwithstanding)!

After Bell gets out of the car at der Nordschleife he proudly announces that he's just done the 4th fastest ever lap there! And he was passed by Jacky Ickx!

However, Stefan Bellof's outright record there in an indentical Rothmans 956 was about half a minute quicker...

Yeah - I remember that one - driving a Ferrari of some descrption (can't remember which). Must have been driving early in the morning, as there was very little traffic around, although there were a couple of close shaves IIRC. Absolute nutter - loved it!

cheers,
