Ah, that sounds much more likely. I would struggle to believe that Labour was 9% ahead in all, to be honest I'm surprised the Tories aren't further ahead.

I must admit I'd forgotten that completely. It wouldn't affect me directly anyway, but I can't believe any government would actually be daft enough to introduce such legislation in the face of what would almost certainly be overwhelming public opposition (unless they lowered the other VED bands to keep the revenue the same, which they wouldn't).

May make some people better off, but I can imagine to make up for the 4p loss, the increased green taxes on anything "luxury" will be punitive.
They're basing a tax system on something unproven, and they use the classic term "Climate Chaos". Dyed in the wool greenines.

Old Dave has sat on a glacier, but I think that was bandwagon enthusiasm in the early days of his leadership.

Hmm, interesting. The Lib Dems do appear to be making a genuine effort to appear to be coming up with environmental taxes for the sake of the environment rather than just to raise money. Whether this is because they're able to come up with untenable solutions knowing they wont be in power, or because they genuinely believe in the environmental (lets not forget, whatever the consensus on here, that the HUGE majority of people in the UK seem to believe in MMGW) is hard to say.

As with everything both the major opposition parties have been saying, it's all too vague to actually tell us anything.
