Looking at doing some basic/part time/temping work as I'm between jobs but have one starting next year when they get back to me.

Is it a bad show to start another job without telling them you've got another you'll be going off to shortly? Or if I decide I hate it after 1 week can I quit there and then and should I feel guilty? I'm a bit new to this stuff.

I was in a similar position a few years ago and entered the world of temping for the first time.

Don't feel guilty, look after number one.
Emloyers accept that many temps have their own agenda, a week's notice is the most they'll expect.

Used to work for a recruitment agency, general rule of thumb is give as much notice as possible if you ever intend trying to work via them again, best not get a bad rep for letting people down and dont forget you may need them to provide a reference at some point in the future.

Recruitment agencies understand that the nature of the work attracts some people that may prefer to have a little flexibility in thier working patterns, I know this may sound a bit like being pro agencies, however from my experience it pays in the long run to try and be reasonable with anyone who pays your wages.

Good luck on the job front

Hope this helps
