Ali - try the kit car forum, a few headers above. The posters on the Ferrari forum tend to be less likely to have a MiG welder and engine hoist than the Kit Car blokes, who may have actually made a car from scratch. (No offence to the Ferrari lot, as I know some of you guys are really competent with a spanner.)

Dear Chassis,
I have an idea which might help you.

You are studying engineering. Who is teaching you? More than one person I think.

You should ask these people all the questions you have asked here. They should be able to explain everything.

The reason for this idea is that cars are difficult to build. I could answer all your questions, but I would need 100 pages for the answers.

So it would be easier for you to talk to someone about the things you want to do. Writing is much slower than talking!

Best of luck!!
McNab.

If you are serious about chassis design etc then I’d go for automotive design course or something similar, you’ll need lots more than a 2-year engineering course. For people on here to tell you how to design a whole car is rather unrealistic.

Course? Na, ain't bothered.
I like staying an amateur.
When you become an engineer and make something bad you get a lot of dis-credit but if you're an amateur then it really doesn't matter and if you do things right then you get a lot of credit.

Dear Chassis,

Thank you for your tip. It is very kind of you to tell me how to make money.

I can't do what you want because this is not my website. Like you I am just a member.

100 pages of advice would be unfair to the other members, because it would take up too much space.

The other members already know how cars are made, so I don't think they would want to read about it again.

You are an experienced amateur machinist - perhaps to toolmaker standard - so why not get a job in the automobile industry?

You would learn all you need to know in about ten years. That would be far better than reading about it.

Best of luck!
McNab.

No. No. No!
I meant get a free webspace and put 100 pages full of info in there and not this forum.
I won't be a pathetic to ask you to take 100 pages in a forum!
Or, if you like, you can email me the info and I'll put it up on my own site.
I really don't have one yet but will if you decide to feed me the infos.

Cheers!

Hmmm...my olfactory senses detect a whift of Mus decumanus here...I begin to wonder if someone is trying to do what I used to do to my Hornby trainset - with a key, that is...

Have to ask Puny in the morning...

McNab,

I don't know Puny that well, but I think she'd probably agree with you. If true though, at least a different slant.

Dear Chassis,

I have thought about what you say. Thinking makes me very tired I'm afraid.

So maybe I should go off to bed now. I usually go to bed quite early you see.

Thanks Puny,

If I'd realised that I would have saved myself a lot of time. Never mind - as you say, it's just more Optimax waiting for a spark. You mean water under the bridge I suppose...

Love and XXXX,
McNab.

Hi Everyone

Does anyone here have a technical build manual for a Sony Plasma TV. I'm hoping to make one from an old can of Tuna and some Cling-Film. I'm also looking to add a special porn function which will beam endless Dutch hard-core action.

If I get it right, I would be able to under-cut the major's by about £7.95.

Please help.

Sorry for being rude Chassis, I have been drinking too much Coffee today and seemed a good idea when I started - I'll get my coat

My Ppprrrecioussss Chassis,

I hope this really is your name - you used it in General Gassing (car engine building), so I think it's OK. Please tell me if I'm wrong because I like to know who I'm talking to.

A friend says he/she thinks you are a girl (woman if you prefer that terminology). Although it's a long time since I had anything to do with one (a woman or a girl - it doesn't matter much at my age...) I quite like girls (or women, if you prefer).

I definitely prefer women myself, but I better shut up about this in case someone calls me a DOM.

So could you tell me more about yourself? If my friend is right it explains everything, because girls/women don't know the first thing about building cars - or about how cars are built (there is a subtle difference you know).

Quite clearly you don't know the first thing about cars, built or unbuilt, and this makes it almost impossible to know where to start.

McNab (Misled?)

P.S. I hope you didn't think this was a Dating Agency...
