Hey hey, I am looking for a strategy game similar to AofE but not....you know create your own army and rule the world.

Any reviews or suggestions would be fantastic!

Any of the Command and Conquer series?

Lord of the Rings is meant to be quite good so I hear.

For a realistic type experience, try Company of Heroes, it's based in WWII and has excellent graphics, it's very addictive and got very good reviews.

If you want a perhaps more complex RTS, have a look at Supreme Commander, it's Sci-Fi and has a lot of depth to it.

HTH

ETA - Demos of both are available.

What he said.
We'll have a new shiny shiny Total Wars next year as well, so now would be the time top grab TW2 (or any) and get your strategy hat on.

Another vote for Supreme Commander here. Best to have a good quality PC though for SC as it can get a little busy at times.

Civilization is cool if you dont mind turn based strategy, some love it, some hate it.

Another vote for the Total War series. IMO they made AoE and all its clones obsolete.

inselkampf.com world 2

There are over 100 PH/CTF'ers playing. It's real time though.

Otherwise the Command & Conquer series.
