Might have a free day on Wednesday, so i was thinking of heading to the west coast for the day. Would be heading from Peterhead so i have a fair bit of driving to do and would probably leave about 6am.

even though ive lived my whole life in Scotland i have never ventured to the west coast so not too sure where to head for the best scenery any pointers on some good locations would be great.

Head to Torridon!

clicky >>> http://www.stevecarter.com/latest/latesttorridon.h...

(Route: Inverness - Garve - Achnasheen - Kinlochewe - Torridon)... And if you travel another 6 miles to Shieldaig, you can buy me a drink!

Shieldaig bar or Applecross Inn do lunches. If it's good weather the road over to Applecross is well worth the drive (highest mountain pass in the UK).

Plus, you get roads like this: http://www.stevecarter.com/picaday/roads.htm

It only takes just over 3 hours from here to Perth, so I'm guessing Peterhead will be less than that (?) (Takes about 70 mins from Inverness to Torridon).

Hi Roger... just don't do it in School Holidays... far too many Caravans. Between Easter and Whitsun is the best time. Empty roads, long days and no midges.
