Baffle removal - How expensive?
Discussion
Hi Tony, I'm thinking of getting this done myself.I currently have a sports exhaust and it sounds very nice.I am in two minds about removing the baffles, what you appear to gain is more noise and pops and bangs, but you seem to loose the V8 burble a bit.
This is my opinion based on various cars i've listened to.
If you haven't got a sports exhaust that would be my first route

Tony, mine goes into Austec on Friday for "baffle deletion", it's had the pre-cats removed already. It seemed a bit pointless as you'd have thought it was loud enough.... but I heard Paul start up the mauve Griffith without baffles and blimey, what a noise.
Just a small point, I know that Paul actually cuts the pipe off, removes the baffle and TiG welds it back, can't see the join. I hven't asked how much it costs yet
I will let you know.
Dave.

Fernhurst told me a couple of weeks back that to have the exhaust sleeved (opening up the back silencer, removing the baffles and sticking a couple of pipes straight through) would cost about £200 + VAT and that it normally takes about 4 hours or so. Just finding a time when I can book mine in to have it done!!!

Hello Fella's. Interesting read this thread. I have a pre-cat 4 ltr Griff.I had to replace the exhaust system and went for a S/S job with a sports box, and it sounded great BUT wanted the extra WOW factor. So had it tweeked ie cut and shut job now sounds the DB's. Very cool but not the DEEP SOUNDING burble with all the stuffing extracted.Had a mate follow me in his Griff 500 and he complained that ALL he could hear was ME.Now if thats not a good recomendation I don't know what is!
Just do it

Fair enough.
Having spent 4 hours in Blue Satin's Ultima GTR today my 500 is as quiet as a mouse. And slow. And girly soft.

Gentlemen
The sports exhaust is a standard exhaust with the baffles removed and a straight through pipe welded in.
There are some aftermarket sports exhausts about, but compared with the £100 or so cost of the baffle removal and pipe replacement, frankly you are wasting your money and would be better off giving it to me to help fund next season's Tuscan racing in No6

I had straight thu pipes made for my Cerby. No cats, no silencers, just straight through.
