I am sorry if this is a subject which gets raised all too often, but I missed it.....

For the V6 engined cars, the rear mounting is clearly an original Ford item. Are the two top mounting bushes original Ford Sierra, or are they something different? Does anyone know if these items are available in an uprated form? The diff (or something in that region) clonks away under hard acceleration in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd. I have replaced the drive shaft CV`s, and the prop shaft universal joint. I and two independant garages have checked the mounting bolts etc, and cannot find any problems, so it only really leaves the mounitng bushes, which given the age of the car, are probably pass their best...oh, and it does not help that the car is fitted with a 24v BOA engine...which I am considering uprating!

Many thanks

Mark

Are you talking about the 2 bushes on top of the diff cradle?

Have you replaced the rear mount (or checked it)? From my experience it is likely to be this; mine was split all the way around and gave the symptoms you are describing, but worse in reverse. You can't really tell the condition of the mount until it is off the car or the fuel tank is out as access is so poor.

BTW getting hold of a replacement is not easy I got one of the last from TVR Car Parts and Ford don't make them anymore and the motor factors don't have suppliers either.

Thanks for your replies....I guess I am really talking about all three....I have the original diff which I replaced with an LSD. I recently checked the rear bush on the original diff and it is split, and whilst I did not notice any such problems on the replacement diff, I cannot remember looking specifically for such a fault.
As you say, maybe the rear design is a weakness.

I think it must be, TVR didn't upgrade anything unless they were forced to.
The V8S arrangement has far less movement.
