Grantura Mk III roll bar installation - Any tips?
Discussion
Thanks, this is fantastic... really big help. I was wondering though, could I not put the mounting plates for the rear braces on the other side so they go straight back and not at an angle?
What a great way to mount the front verticals, never thought about that....seems so simple. Now I am thinking about doing a bit more than just a rear roll bar as these are not the most secure cars on the road <G>.

You could but mounting them this way achieves 2 things.Pat
1. it puts the rear diagonal at the centre of your back at the correct height for the harness attachment points
2. I have seen rollbars mounted on the rear wishbone brackets in the manner you suggest. The rear wishbone brackets are the very last place you should mount the cage diagonals on since these are usually the first things to buckle or be ripped off in a heavy smash.
If you look at my cage the rear brackets are inside the perimeter of the top diff cage and very slightly weaker than the main legs. In a crash this allows the cage to deform away from the driver backwards and means their is less chance for the main hoop to go forwards in a heavy roll.
