Looking for some new games, love first person shooters, strategy, driving, anything really. smile

Out of the latest games here's what I've got:

  • COD 5 - bought this last night, went back this afternoon, nowhere near as good as 4. frown
  • COD 4 - Love it for the multiplayer, bored of the single player though I will get round to completing it.
  • Gears of War 2 - pretty much lost interest in this thanks to the crap multiplayer
  • Forza 2 - love it, though never played it online
  • GTA 4 - love it, only game I've got that I've not got bored of in any way, though I'm probably only half way through story mode.
I'm a bit disappointed that I've lost interest in GOW2 and COD5 so soon, as I loved the ones that preceeded them€ frown. Loads of people seem to have lost interest in them, and few of the folks on my freinds list from here rarely seem to play gears anymore, plus I've completed it twice.

I want at least 2 new games, I've been thinking about

  • Shaun White snowboarding - heard it's toss so didn't bother
  • Fallout 3 - looks like it could be good, no multiplayer though afaik
  • Fable 2 - never played fable, know nothing about it.
  • Farcry 2 - from what I've read on here it doesn't seem to hot, looks ace though and I loved the original
  • Red Alert 3 - always liked C&C games, last one worked ok on xbox but can't see many here playing it.
Anything else worth bothering with? Ideally I'd like something that has a decent multiplayer mode, ideally something PH'ers play as I always enjoy those matches, but anything will do I suppose if there's no good MP games out there I've missed.

So, any thoughts on the above or any other decent games that have been around in recent months I might have missed? Recommend me stuff! biggrin

Cheers,
Stu

Left 4 Dead, best fun in multiplayer I've had in a very long time.

did mean to ask about that, is it actually any good? Or just a good no-brainer?

I seem to remember it's based on the rather ancient half life engine, but if it's any good I may well be tempted. I played dead rising aaaaages ago and loved that for messing around on smile

There's a Left 4 Dead demo in Marketplace. Free to download. I thought it was w*nk personally. Didn't 'feel' at all good, just float around the screen.

I'm in a similar dilemma. OD'd on COD4, COD5 not as good, Gears2 is 'ok'...

Forza is fun online. Give it a go smile

Left 4 Dead comes alive with a few friends, you'll often crap your pants and scream at the top of your lungs, then giggle like a maniac as you play one of the infected and pick off a foolish survivor who runs off on their own.

Graphics aren't as good as the likes of COD4 but that doesn't really matter. If you want one of those games that has you talking about stupid little details afterwards then it's the one to go for.

Example: We were playing the campaign with a couple of strangers on Saturday, one of which was an annoying little kid who whined non-stop when we didn't do things 'his way' so we got to the end of the campaign and the rescue boat was mere seconds away, at which point a swarm of infected descended upon us and he got knocked down in the panic, wasn't a tough decision for us to leg it out of their and leave him as human bait. Leaving him screaming out for aid. evil

I might give left 4 dead a try, sounds like good no-brainer fun, though I'll be honest I wasn't exactly blown away by the demo. Could be fun if there's a group playing.

I loved the first R6 Vegas, forgot about the second one in all honesty, but I'll probably pick it up at some point.

Is red alert 3 any good? I quite liked C&C3 though it was nowhere near as nice to control as it is on the PC.

PGR4 if you want a bit of mindless racing fun.

Forza2 if you want more serious racing fun.

Shaun White snowboarding - heard it's toss so didn't bother

I have got this and think its good. It got slated as the reviewers never progressed through the game to get the better boards for doing bigger tricks . . Also they were comparing it to games like SSX Tricky where some of the tricks were crazy like unstrapping and doing break dancing etc.

Its not perfect but once you get used to the control system its quite good and it swings more to the realistic Skate sorta side of games away from the crazy Arcade style of tony hawks
