1.8T engine hunting, and not ticking over correctly
Discussion
It's in the garage this weekend, so will be giving everything the once over. From years of owning hunting 205 GTi's, I'd wonderered about the air flow meter ... Any tips on cleaning it (if possible), or are they just junk once they start to play up.
Years of pug ownership also have granted the necessary skills to approach junctions on the brakes with the edge of the right foot blipping the throttle

Some clean up, some don't. Mine it made no difference whatsoever so I just had to stump up the £100 for a new one (they will require the old one back BTW - so don't bin it! Nearly cost me £40 extra...) Years of pug ownership also have granted the necessary skills to approach junctions on the brakes with the edge of the right foot blipping the throttle

Sorted
Changed the air flow meter, oil, filter, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and repaired a split in the vacumn pipe off of the inlet manifold.
She's running like a dream again. Ticking over perfect, and lots smoother. Everything done for less than a ton, and all fitted and fettled in about 90 minutes ..... then another 30 minutes spent cleaning the old oil from the garage floor after I accidently kicked the drain pan, and knocked a "gloop" out

under a ton?! Where did you get the MAF from, cost me £101 for that alone!

GSF. Was about £65 inc VAT with a £25 surcharge that I need to claim back. It's therefore reconditioned, but all they are likely to have kept is the pastic body anyway. mat205125 said:

Bizarre - both they and Euro quoted exactly the same as Audi (all of whom have the surcharge). Must be a different one.
150bhp FWD like mine?I think there are more than one listed for most.
