I know there are heaps of companies offering these, but the wife and I are looking at doing one of these holidays. We've looked at Neilson and their two-week offering (i.e. learn in the first week) - as I say there are lots of companies out there, can anyone suggest who else is worthwhile looking at? (we're both beginners)

Whereabouts are you thinking of? My parents' boat is on charter management with Sail Ionian ( www.sailionian.com ) based on Lefkas, Greece. They're a fairly small, family run business but are VERY good at what they do. They offer everything from bareboat to flotilla to skippered charter. All boats are kept in pristine condition, mostly new Bavarias. The area is great for beginners with predictable winds that are rarely too strong, and is largely unspoilt with a lot of traditional Greek fishing villages within easy sailing distance. They can also sort out a villa for your first or second week if required (my dad's just had one built 5 minutes walk from their base which will be available next summer). PM me if you want more details.

Lee.
