Audi R8 Replica

Who needs a TT when you can have a car that doesn't look like an R8?

Ahh, the Audi R8…the German supercar upstart that has rocked the establishment to its core. And there is no finer than this lovely Ice Silver example with exquisite Carbon Sigma Sideblades.

But before we go any further we have a confession to make – this is in fact a replica! That’s right, the true car fans among you may have spotted a few miniscule details that differentiate this from the real thing.

Things like the different proportions, incorrect wheels, missing rear pipes, wrong interior, and of course the big giveaway: the front mounted engine and front-wheel drive. But who can argue with the added safety of this layout, plus the added bonus of spending ‘just’ £25,000 on the replica kit (plus £1,000 for a donor Ford Probe) which would only buy you a measly Audi TT or A5 with a bit of discounting.

Drive it at night outside Specsavers and who knows what this baby could do for you…

Thanks to Topspeed for the tip!

To be fair that is one of the better replicas. Given that they are still fairly rare i would need a double take if i saw one from a fair distance. Then after a second you realise the proportions are all wrong.

Lose the coloured side blade and you have the 2011 Audi A5.

Not the worst attempt at a replica I've ever seen, but still a lot of money for what it really is.

Agreed - I actually thought it was based on an A5!

It's a better replica kit than lots out there. It still looks rubbish, but it's the best of a terrible, terrible bunch.

Looks better than a standard R8 to me. Not hard Ill grant you, an R8 looks like it was styled by the same people who think 360Ms look good.

No he wouldn't, I'm sure his highly tuned hearing would be able to tell the difference between the awesome sounding 40V V8 in the R8 and whaterver hairdryer motor is powering the donor vehicle...

Come to think of it even Helen Keller would heve been able to tell that this is not a real R8.

I like the 'discreet' R8 badge on the steering wheel.
