Well for a start, I think I can safely say that the problems in Congo are caused by African leaders who have plenty of millions for limos and guns.

To be honest, all the $billions that have been spent on Africa so far, it seems all a bit pointless to me.
So £20 mill on a firework display is a bit excessive, but I'd like to have seen it.

I was thinking the same thing, but should we admit it.

Damn good display, wish I'd been there to work on it.

I'm sorry, but appeals after appeals for tin pot banana republics do nothing for me. Yes it's a shame, a tragedy even, but in the big scheme of my world it's not knocking on the door for my money.

There's dosh in Dubai for a good knees up to open a hotel, good for them. Should the worlds population stop doing anything to celebrate or have fun as there's also suffering in the world? Nope, not in my book.

It's been going on since the year dot, someone's having a bad time whilst someone else is having a good time, the only difference now is the speed of modern media projects it straight into the living rooms of hand wringing Diana-ists who feel the need to be upset and concerned and shocked right now. I thought we were supposed to be spending money now, anyway?

I know that we do it, but someone said to me that Humans shouldn't live in areas that can't support life. If food suddenly ran out here we would be in the same situation, I cant live off the small tub of water cress for long.

You're gonna need more than £20million of fireworks to brighten up a place like that. Dubai - the most boring pointless place I have ever been to.

Thnig is, large tracts of famine struck Africa that will happily support life, as long as the local militia stop, killing the farmers cutting off the water and destroying the crops.

Africa is a black hole (no racism intended), you could chuck as much cash as you wanted at it and it wouldn't make even a slight difference. If you really want to help them buy something made in Africa like a basket or some of that fair trade stuff smile.
