I need to buy a new Sky+ box. Will I be able to take the card from my existing box and use it directly in any new box, or would the new box need to be the same make/model as my old one? I understand that I will have to contact Sky in order to get the card 'mated' to the new machine, but I've also read somewhere that the cards are not all compatible with all machines....is this true?

For info...my current box is a Thomson, but I've got my eye on a Pace as these sound to be the machine of choice at the moment.

I know I would probably get more info from an AV forum, but P'heads is about the only forum I can access at work. bow

Cheers for any help!

I presume your box is broken in some way and Sky want to charge you to replace it?

Easy answer to this is to phone them, tell them it's broken.

When they say it's chargeable, tell them you'll cancel your subscription.

They'll send someone out with a new / refurb one within a few days, free of charge.
