I know a lot of people HATE them but in 6 years i've never had a problem. Until now. jesus they really are as bad as people say when you have a problem. I've juts had this email :-
"Dear ******,
We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer's bank.
We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer's bank for the following reason: The bank is disputing the Direct Debit Instruction (DDI)..
As a result, we have reversed the following transaction:
Transaction date: 11 Nov. 2008
PayPal is committed to maintaining a safe environment for our buyers and sellers. You can help to protect yourself against claims and reversals by following the guidelines of our .
Yours sincerely,
PayPal "
Of our what? The emails cust off there!
I've logged into our account and can see the transaction, it's marked as "reversed". If i go to the resolution centre there are no items in there so how the hell do you dispute this? I've phoned them up and got through to some half wit who could barely speak english. He then put me through to an answer machine that asked me to call a national rate line.

We only accept card payments, so is this the bank have stopped the DD to the customers card that they used to pay us? Me no understandy. We shipped the goods and have heard nowt from the customer, you'd expect a call or email off them if they hadn't had anything from us, not a chargeback?
I had a similar experience where I sold something, buyer paid by Paypal, about 24 hrs later I got an email from Paypal saying payment had been reversed. Turns out the "Buyer" was using a stolen credit card. Fortunately I hadn't shipped the item yet(Tag Watch)but I still lost my sellers fees.
This is what is worrying me at the moment. I sold a head unit on tuesday for £175.
Got an email from PayPal on wednesday telling me that the buyer has paid me, but due to fraud prevention, they are going to hold the money until the buyer posts me positive feedback. I did email them back and said that he could reverse the payment, thus leaving me with no money and no head unit.
Their response was, to paraphrase, "thems our rules so deal with it punk"
This was just before they rode off on horses, wearing 10-gallon hats and shouting yeehaa....
They're a sodding joke, but you have to use them if you use eBay, and despite the others people recommend, there really is no other alternative for selling stuff...

That sounds wierd. This is the first time in 6 years we've had this but their "response" is nothing short of appalling. TBH i think we'll f
k them off and get a proper merchant account. We also use Google Checkout & NOCHEX, not contacted NOCHEX before but every time i've contacted Google they have been spot on. This is not on eBay btw, our own website.

te, sorry to hear about it mate.. Have had a similar problem in the past which i was fortunate enough to only lose 20 odd quid.
Funny thing is though, like you mention, the only people who are happy paypal customers are the ones who have not had anything happen to them like this. When it does they will do everything in there power to make sure they are not out of pocket.

My policy used to be to wait till the payment was cleared from PP before posting the loot. Now you can't even do that.
If someone has issued a charge-back it's probably because the card owner realised his card was being used fraudulently and the bank reversed all the dodgy transactions.
Basically - you loose. You will never see that money again.
PayPal is NOT a safe way to receive money, in fact I actually think it's worse than Western Union now!!
Edited to add...I would reject the payment for the head unit and take the negative feedback on the chin. I certainly wouldn't post anything of that value without having the readies in my bank account!!

Surely the address we have from Pay Pal to ship the goods to ties up with the card holders address? Isn't that one of the security checks? A quick Google has revealed the phone number of the customer in question but i want to dispute the charge back officially.
Nope - probably a hijacked account. You know those emails about unlocking your accounts that usually end up in your junk mail filter...well, some people are stupid enough to click the links!

tters claiming they haven't had goods(which amazingly turn up once we request a legal declaration in the form of Royal Mail's P58 form) and now charge backs. Honestly makes me think twice about bothering, do these people think we make millions so will just forget the chargeback or send out more goods on their say so?Dave_ST220 said:
