Just applying for a few jobs. Received this today:

Fair enough. I wasn't good enough.

But it really pisses me off that someone who thinks 'progress' is a transitive verb has a job and I don't.

Or is this the type of language I'm going to have to get used to in an office environment?

Yep, that and much worse.

Suggest you either learn to cope with the buzzword bingo, or look for a job outside of the 'large office' environment.

Maybe I should just be proactive and stay here on the tractor. Nuts to all this bks. I'd rather listen to some country boys f and blind all day on the two way than put up with too much of that.

What's wrong with "we have decided that your application will not progress any further". Much more simple and elegant. Maybe I should go into HR. Tackle the problem at its very heart. Bring down the system from the inside as it were...... But I'd probably turn into one of them.

My local Co-Op can beat that.

They're having some building work done and there are several large offical Co-Op signboards saying 'You're cooperation is appreciated'

I suppose coming from people who think carrier bags are going to kill polar bears, that's only to be expected rolleyes

And another thing.
Signs in NZ when leaving some towns:

"XXX Farewells you"

What the fk does that mean?

Yes I know what they're trying to say, but FFS, it's gibberish.

They just don't have the 'bandwith' to deal with so many applications.

'Office speak' reminds me of Del Boy.

The Quahog news?

Consider yourself lucky, most places don't even give you the courtesy of a reply.

They actually responded ? that was nice. I reckon I was at about 25% responce rate to applications and 50% responce rate to interviews.

Still waiting for formal rejections from Bae Systems from July 2007. I had to take a day off work and you can't be arsed to say NO.

Similar situation here, actively looking for a new job and it really annoys me when I devote an entire evening to an application only to have it vanish into the ether, never to be seen or heard of again.

To be fair, if companies responded to every application they'd never get any work done.

Yours may be a good applciation, warrenting a response, but for every one like you they will get 10 more peole whose skills include 'playing World of Warcraft' for the last 5 years.

It's annoying, but that's what a flodded market has created.

Dont get me started on the word "Champion". We have "champions" for everything at work.

Ive been asked to "Champion" several different things (mainly dodgy environmental stuff). What does that actually mean??
