Rally GB, Which stage to visit?

After years of arm chair spectating, I'm going to be a first time Rally spectator this year for the Friday leg. The few questions I have for the veterans are, which stage will be best to go to Hafren, Sweet Lamb or Myherin? Also will we be stuck on these stages or can we move later on? I'll probably be taking the old Beemer so are the car parks accessible by a RWD car on summer tyres?

Sweet Lamb I'd imagine for distance/time you can see the cars.

get there very early, park up, wander into stage, find good spot, sit and wait, put on lots of warm clothing, eat all your food, watch cars come past, walk thorugh stage to another spot, watch all cars come past again.

travelling between stages is hard now so probably best avoided if you are using official car parks. the car parks are usually pretty good to be fair. not much rain expected till sat/sun so you should be ok. there are always blokes happy to give you a shove if you do get stuck though....

i would say all three offer good viewings points, shame none are in the dark though the final cars through myherin might be at dusk...

Cheers Pablo. What would you consider an early time to arrive? I've got about a two hours drive to get to Wales. How many cars are expected to go through? I'm hoping there are private entrants in old Cosworths and Imprezas!

I would agree about getting there early - aim for 2 hours before first runs, even on the early morning stages. Parking is generally along the verges of narrow forest tracks, arrive later and you'll have a long walk or even not get in at all for stages like Port Talbot. The only place I'm aware of where you can push it a bit is Walters Arena which has a huge car park.

There are almost 100 entries so they'll be going past for a couple of hours.

The entries are restricted to ones with FIA homologation still in place and seem to be a bit "samey" this year - not a lot of variation There are a couple of interesting S2000 cars though. I'll save a cheer and a wave for the Skoda Felicia at the back though

get there around two hours before the first car is due as you need some time to find a good spot. try to find a fastish corner so you can see the lesser cars on the limit and struggling for grip. the WRC guys will fly past unaffected but the S1600 cars will be more entertaining...

Assuming that they are using the bowl then I would second this - sweet lamb is a great venue, one of my favourites both as a competitor and a spectator.

Loeb et al going through there will be something else.

From what I've read elsewhere they won't be using the famous ford, something to do with Subaru having testing rights on the tracks the other side of the ford and I think the stage finishes in the bowl (maybe wrong, not sure how good the source is) I'd try and get up the hill a bit to watch them come through the section with the water splash that leads into the bowl.

Totally agree about it being a great venue, about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!

Unfortunately there is not a lot of detail on official web site as to stage layout as yet.

Thought they might have got rid of those rights after one of their truckies managed to get one of the artics rather stuck off the side of the stage!!
