If someone has indefinate leave to remain, that basicly means that they can stay indefinatly, (so long as they dont do anything really naughty).
This is the same visa as my wife has. She cant vote over here, but that is about it as far as restrictions go.
I'm sure that I have missed a thread somewhere, so whats the story? Is your partners visa about to expire?
My wife started on a settlement visa, when we first moved over here, which turned into 'Indefinite leave to remain' after a year, but then she converted it to UK citizen after three years. She's been here nearly seven years nowThis is the same visa as my wife has. She cant vote over here, but that is about it as far as restrictions go.

Mum in law has 'Indefinite leave to enter' which is related to settlement for elderly dependents/parents.
