I had a go at it. I didn't do too badly. Snag is, at the time, you could only do it with IG and I don't like having one single source so decided to learn to trade properly.

Yes, it was to do with shareheads, I think he lost just over half and then it was closed down, people wanted daily updates which became a bit of a sticking point.

I can imagine daily updates would be a hassle if your system is only good 2-3 times a week.

y'know thats a good point ... don't think mine did either. (will check back through the statements ... )

TBH in DJC's defence, we all went into it eyes open with the idea of a share portfolio.

This proved to be nigh on impossible with a "virtual" group of investors due to gubberment money laundering regs.

A few people started talking about spread betting and DJC popped up as someone who had been looking at this.

He talked through a few weeks of personal bets giving us an idea of what was happening and everyone went into it eyes open (usual disclaimer, your investment can go down as well as up)

Initially things were inj gravey .....

Then the markets went through a cold patch and it started to go the way of the pear, lots of pressure was put on DJC to provide daily reporting which was never practically viable with the IG system, but a compromise was never met.

In responce to this reporting pressure DJC elected to step away and there it ended.

Would have been interesting to park the money and wait ... or perhaps play things a little slower first ... but thats 20/20 hindsight.

IMHO no shame on DJC.

XJS's post is a fairly accurate summary.

There was a little debate as to the some of the 'trades' though as they weren't all involving quoted companies.

There was a period where a lot of concerns were raised but ultimately these were all put to bed, certainly as far as i was concerned, and i think a lot of people learnt a lot of lessons for a very small price.

All true, however IIRC it all went pear shaped when DJC did a spread bet on a football match, a fair few people rightly stated that this wasn't what the club was about and if they wanted to bet on football matches they could do that themselves. DJC then did another bet on a football match after that and lost a fair chunk of everyones money on it, then the st hit the fan.
