Someone here is bound to know..

I'm looking for a wholesale sweet supplier - google has come up with one or two but they are quite expensive (as in not much saving from the high street) so hope someone might be able to point me in the direction of a good one.

I've been to Costco and their selection isn't great, but will do for haribo and the such. Tonight is a visit to Makro, but as I've never been before I wanted to go armed with some cost comparisons.

Thank you

(and I promise to stop asking for advice and help soon..)

What kind of sweets are you looking for?

Try Makro and Booker as they tend to have a better selection, unless it's boiled sweets in big jars.

If it is i might know a man wink

Foam shrimps and bananas, jazzies and snowies (or whatever their technical names are) cola bottles, coconut mushrooms, white mice, ice cream cones, milk bottles, gummy bears, pix and mix sort of stuff, penny sweets....

Perhaps looking for boiled sweets too - depends what I decide to do...Perhaps for own consumption tongue out It does depend if I could find nice air tight jars (about 200/400g size) so they don't go sticky and look nice as gifts.

Makro is great for that kind of thing, everything comes in massive tubs and is quite good price wise. The do big tubs of Astro Belts as well which are great for sugar highs.

Oh wonderful!

I want to get my own card, but as I'm not a business its proving a little tricky to let me in. I've been given a card for the evening with a little covering letter to let me in.

So does everyone who has a card, have a business?

I think you'll find the jars will cost a lot more than the sweets!
Especially if you're looking at glass jars.

If you do find some cheap air tight ones let me know as I've been looking with little success.

Here was me thinking you were going to open a shop! tongue out

The jars could be a problem, unless you have a specialist cooking/homewear store (or possibly IKEA, not been there for ages).

TBH depending on the volumes bought, the Makro/Costco/Booker route is good and as cheap as any.

I noticed boxes of crisps (Mcoys) in Costco looked very cheap. Yum.

If your going to Costco i'll have a big combo pizza for my lunch... cloud9

I'd love to have my own sweet shop! With a little ice cream parlour and serving teas. cloud9

But instead I'm looking for pick and mix stuff to use as Christmas presents for those who I've no idea what else to get. A nice jar, or celophane bag with ribbon etc - they sell them at a shop locally but are so hideously expensive that it'd be cheaper to buy in bulk and nibble my way through the remainder over a few hoursmonths.

And I've got the Costco bug in a biig way - 1.8kg of Jelly Belly beans for £12!! Not to mention Hershey's kisses! Am one happy little bunny.

They don't have them up here in Scotland, they good?

In Edinburgh there used to be a specialist cash and carry for sweets but it closed years ago and it's flats now... irked

Less flats, More sweets!

WOOHOO there is one near me.

Again registration says I need to be a business.

So how do I get around this?! I do quite a bit of cake decorating but never made it into a business...

I'm going for the full house with cash and carry registrations!

And I probably shouldn't be this excited about bulk sweeties (I don't really like sweets much either...)

Excellent.

Now how will the work with Makro too?

If I can make some money - I would turn this into an income boosting evening/weekend venture.

My Mam managed to get a Makro card just by being a part time childminder, and I've known eBay sellers who are "self-employed" get a Costco card.

Nice!

Being in the NHS gets you a Costco card too - in fact anything to do with local goverment will too.
