I hope if there is no evidence the shop keeper will not be punished.

I'd have thought the kids memory would have blanked more than just his fall. Dont people usually loose more time previous to the blow to the head? Eitherway his memory cant be trusted at that time. Although hopefully he has learnt not to run around places where you can fall out....

The shop keeper will probably end up with a criminal record and a suspended sentence now whereas the little scum bag will sell his story and sue the shop keeper and make a few grand out of it.

Crikey. I know stealing is stealing but that's a bit OTT for a bag of crisps. It's not as if the boy has stolen a car. yikes

Yeah, he should be punished but that IMO is excessive.

What I think happened

Pikey gets rumbled
Pikey runs upstairs
Pikey opens window and looks to see if its possible to jump
Pikey falls out of window, blames shopkeeper.

I think people should be punished the same regardless, whether they steal a pack of crisps or a truck. (Harshly i mean too, not a petty punishment for a truck, a big fat 'dont steal anymore you stupid piece of st' punishment)

When I was at school (early 80's)my French teacher would throw people out of the window if they were caught copying or got a low mark.It was a ground floor classroom and there were bushes outside but it still bloody hurt!

If the shopkeeper pushed him out of the window (note the use of the word if) then the stupid git deserves all he'll get.

There is no way on earth that a few bags of crisps is worth nearly killing someone for or even injuring them slightly.

How many of the holier than thou posters so far, can hand on heart say they never did anything stupid as kids for "a dare". Do you think you should have been seriously injured because you did something stupid?

Get a grip people, the shopkeeper in this case is a w*nk. The child may or may not be a little scrote, but that doesn't excuse the actions of the silly sod in the shop.

This is what I think as well. Kids will always try and show up the system. So he'll stick to his guns and say the zoo shop keeper pushed him. Even if the keeper was only 1/2 way up the stairs having a heart attack from all the chips and larger he's eaten.

Exactly. I think this thread could turn up some hypocrites if they analysed everything they did as a teenager. Unless PH is full of angels, which I doubt.

I know you said IF. But I think most of us do not believe either 15yo boys who steal, or the press. So assuming there is any truth to the story at all is a leap I for one cannot make.

Who hasn't knicked something from a shop during their youth? Some sweets or a pack of crisps?

Sure catch him and give him a slap if you're that upset. Phone the police even. Pushing him out of a second floor window is way over the top.

The article said:
A BOY was shoved from a second-floor window by a shopkeeper after being caught stealing crisps, it was claimed last night.
Jimmy Dempsey, 15, suffered horrific injuries including two broken hips and a broken thigh and nose after being chased.
The schoolboy admits he nicked the £1.99 multipack from a Glasgow corner shop as a "prank" with his pal.
If the story as written is correct, think the shop keeper deserves to be prosecuted.
