Night Terrors: What's that all about?
Discussion
I have been getting quite a lot of these lately, especially on Monday nights
Last night I was tuckered out by 8:45 so nodded off in bed only to wake up at 1:00.
From then on, until the morning, every time I nodded off I would wake up during that sleep paralysis thing, had all sorts of imaginary people poking me in the side of the head and the auditory hallucinations were very real. At one stage I heard a couple of people walk through the front door, up the stairs and I was waiting for my door to open. I was s
tting myself at the time because I could not move a muscle of speak a sound.
This is nothing less than purgatory.

How much water are you drinking?
Its easy to think that as its colder this time of year, youre not as thirsty/dont need as much water. Try drinking a whole pint before bed. I reckon that will sort it. It does for me. Dehydrated - nightmares. Pint of water - wake up soaked in pi5s.

I get one where I stop breathing and my whole body is paralysed, I have to shake my head until I wake up. Not a great bundle of laughs, happens every couple of weeks, sure I will die one night if I do not wake up.
I get this as well. I normally wake up gasping. But I don't remember any dreams.

What you're describing is sleep paralysis which I believe is when you wake up in deep sleep, you're paralysed so you don't act out your dreams, there's some good info on Wikipedia:

I get night terrors now and then and this is where you wake up in the middle of the night absolutely terrified for no apparent reason but you are able to move because you usually try to get away from whatever is causing the terror:

I've "woken up" standing on the landing before now trying to get away from something, heart going ten to the dozen.
