I'm currently on O2 business for my phone, paying £30 for 400 mins and 200 txts. Contract is up and I'd like to cash in on the free PS3 gift some people offer.

CPW offer a free PS3 (80gb, with sing star) on a 18 month contract for £35/month. 600 mins, unlimited txts. Free 6300 black too.

I'd like to stay on O2 (going to have to port my number to a voda sim payg, then back to new contract).

Anyone know of any better deals?

You know it's not really 'free' don't you? £630 of line rental, plus calls not covered by the free minutes, and a cheap phone = plenty of space in the margin for a PS3.

I think I got mine from Buymobilephones.net or something. Came within a couple of weeks and overall, taking it all into comparison it cost me £80 more than my usual contract. So effectively a PS3 for £80. Can't really argue with that smile

The PS3 is an incentive given by the dealer out of his commission he receives from the network.

The tariff you are placed on is still worth the line rental you are paying as it is created by the networks to be a valid tariff with a free bundle of minutes suited to that line rental.

it's the dealers choice whether he keeps all the commission or uses £250 of it to offer a PS3 to gain more sales.

in short - the tariff is still a great tariff and you are not paying more than it's worth just to get a PS3.

Me - i keep all the commission!!!!

It is free to me though. Im currently paying £30 for 400 mins, this is £35 for 600 mins. Its not £50/month which would be £15 for 18 months = additional £270.

I've not found a better deal, so will probably go with it.

BigTee, can you confirm the only way to port O2 to O2 is to use a buffer Voda/Tmobile sim?

yeh - you would need to port out (ending your o2 contract) and port back in (creating a new account).

I got exactly the same deal, I decided that an extra £5 a month on my contract over 18 months was definitely worth it - and also got around explaining to SWMBO why I needed to buy a PS3!

Thanks.

Whats the time scales for porting a number, will I have down time? I am happy to overlap my contracts for a month.

takes two days to port and you shouldn't have any down time.

When I looked into this it was the crappy 40gb PS3 that doesn't play PS2 games that was on offer, presumably because Sony can't sell them to anyone else.

Must be something to do with it being a business contract but you're being screwed there surely?!

I'm with O2 & was paying £25 for 200 mins & 750 texts, which I "re-negotiated" down to £20 for 400 mins & unlimited texts (it might even be 600 mins).

Hence the want to change really. There are no benefits for a single person to use the business side of O2!

I think your being screwed as well there though! I'm with O2 and get 1000 minutes and unlimited texts for £24 a month...

blimey if you go to Orange business you can have 600 mins unlimited texts and free insurance for £30 pm (+vat) in fact if you go for the 6300 you can get £150 credit on your account which is split up over 18 months and so it works out to be around £26 pm inc VAT.

I did a deal like this last year.
Before i was changed i was on Vodafone paying £55 a month for 600 mins abd 400 texts.
I changed to T-mobile got an LG viewty & was paying £40 a month including insurance and i was getting a deal called flext.
In that 12 months i've never gone over my limit once i also got a free XBOX 360 arcade.
It's not really a con but try getting on a 12month contract thats what i did!
A guy at my work did it and got a free 19" flat screen TV.
Numberous amounts of my friends have done it aswell.
