I've spent the last few hours watching The Matrix in glorious high definition and full-on surround sound.

Not seen it in about, oh, four years or so. Got to say, what an absolute stonking powerhouse of a movie. Stunning, groundbreaking special effects, fabulous innovative plot, thumping soundtrack, guns, explosions, bullets, token fittie. What's not to like?

Has to be up there as one of, if not the best action movies of all time. I have to mention Predator and Aliens in a post like this, but The Matrix whoops them both.

What say you, fellow PHers?

Not a bad call. And definitely a good film. Problem is, it cannot match up to the first time you saw it - all the action, effects and the like, but also not knowing what The Matrix is. Some films give you a bit more as you see them again, but I don't think this can match the impact of the first time. That said, not watched it in a while so may give it a crack this week!

Still remember the day I first saw it (although it's a bit easy - 31/12/99).

It's definitely worth going back for another watch having not seen it in a while... just a shame it's 'memory' was decimated by the atrocious sequels.

Oh, and bump, obviously wink

Blade Runner, truly brilliant film, excellent soundtrack, compelling story aand Rutger Hauer as a brilliant bad guy.

Great film, but I prefer the film that it lifted many of its thematic and visual ideas from, Ghost in the Shell

+1

Watched it again the other night on Blu-ray.

Still great.

Even prompted me to dig out the Vangelis 'greatest hits' CD.

Agreed, an absolutely wonderful film. I have been meaning to get the 25th anniversary re release on DVD for a while now.

I'd also like to add Close Encounters of the Third Kind, I've always loved this film and although it is basically a fairy tale, it is one that I enjoy watching over and over again.

Is the Blue ray version , the directors cut or the original , much prefer the original with Harrison Ford narration ,

Having watched it on Sky last night, I think my vote is also going to the Matrix. I had forgotten just how good it was.

Shame the series trailed off with the second and third installments.

Blade Runner doesnt age.

Star wars is a classic too, though the central story is quite old.

Matrix was great if you hadnt seen all the stuff they ripped off, still not a bad movie, shame about the rest.

The twist halfway through the Matrix was amazing, that's what made the film great in the cinema. Must watch it again.

You misread the title, it isnt the best lack of action scifi movie.

watched Star Wars: A new hope on ITV on Sunday, it is still a cracking film, made all the better by not being all CGI, it is cheesy in places but it still works well, although, and im sure many will agree The Empire Strikes Back is the ultimate SW film.

Bladerunner isnt exactly action packed if you watch the directos cut.
