2000M racer engine failure at high revs
Discussion
soundclip 2000m Racer
We did some testing with our 2000M racer (Soldaat van Oranje) in Blackpool aan den Rijn
When high revving on the long straight just after the HEMA corner the engine has a slight failure. We made a soundclip of it. Can anybody tell what the problem might be?

Are you really sure you checked BOTH the spark plugs?
May be it's accidentally in the interval Mode?

Of course we checked both plugs.... the one in the middle we double checked.
Cantus had a look at it and he thinks it has something to do with the exhaust as you can see in the vid.
It sounds glorious especially in stereo.
I don't know anything about that engine, but on the video it looks as if it's on sidedraft carbs?
The sound clip seemed to show the engine running cleanly for a few seconds at the start of each straight and then starting to miss. Is it possible you're getting fuel starvation under hard acceleration? It would run for a few seconds on the contents of the float chamber even if the pumps weren't delivering fuel. Depending what the fuel/ignition systems are that could be complete rubbish, perhaps you could describe the setup?

It is a 2.0 litre ford pino engine with dellorto sidedraft carbs, hot camshaft, custom headers and manifold. We run it on a gas/methanol mixture

[edit]: Previous post removed due to exessive nonsense! [/edit]
Sounds like fuel is shutting of randomly!
Have you checked electrical connections to the pump or tried a spare?
Have you removed the Dellortos and cleaned them?
Have you cleaned the tank/fuel lines/pump?
Could it be a loose electrical connection somewhere in the ignition system?
How high do you rev that crazy beast?
Good luck,
BH
