Hello to all,

firstly I'd like to say hi to everyone in M5 heaven (or at least, that's my experience of it so far). I've just migrated from a Noble M12 GTO 3R which I loved dearly but after 2 glorious years it was time to let someone else have a go. I decided to replace it and the JCW Cooper S I ran in tandem with one single car capable of fulfilling my needs for both Noble pace and Mini practicality/quality. I ruled out all 2 seaters and came up with a short list of Audi RS4 and BMW M5. A very long story concluded last week when I bought a mint Aug '05 E60 with 37k on the clock and a very full BMW SH, which in turn enabled me to put a fresh official (lapsed) comprehensive component warranty on it, an absolute must on something this complex in my book.

Anyway, before I offend anyone on here as I know how tetchy some of you lot get at the concept of 'modding' your pride and joy (I read many posts on here and M-Torque before deciding on the car), let me point out that I am not one for modifications under normal circumstances. I believe the M5 looks and feels just fine as it is. However, the one part of the M5 experience I do find a little frustrating is the way the M boys have (deliberately I'm sure) muted the potentially glorious sound of that F1 derived V10. Consequently I'm considering an Eisenmann exhaust upgrade and wondered if any of you fine folk have either had one of their systems installed on your car, or had experience of them, good or bad?

They do a couple of flavours which they refer to as 'Fast Street' and 'Race' that add 5 & 9 DB respectively. I just spoke to Roy at Eisenmann who suggested that even the 'Race spec' was still quite tasteful and not too in-your-face.

Any thoughts and experiences much appreciated, and if anyone has actually got one of these beasties installed and wouldn't mind taking me for a run up the road, that would be most welcome indeed.

Cheers,

Al

Nice buy, specially with the full leather...

Do you mind if I ask what you paid? PM me if you can.

Enquired into myself at one point prior to deciding on mine.

Gets better the more you own it, why I left it this long I'll never know.

Strange you say the M5 is muted, I've just got an M3 Saloon and actually have been pretty surprised at how loud it is, even compared to my previous Monaro with Miltek exhausts!

What are you thinking with regards warranty and mods? Are BMW amenable to them? Vauxhall really couldn't care less what you did to a monaro. smile

Excellent find on the Tubi WM, thanks for that - it's now 10:30pm and I've only just logged on so will give the seller a call tomorrow. Lives just round the corner from me too, which is nice

Berry - I'll try and PM you, if I can figure out how scratchchin

-Z- - According to statutory law, so long as the replacement part is of the same or higher standard of manufacture than the original, the manufacturer cannot legally negate your warranty. Certainly the Eismann exhaust meets these requirements - not sure about the Tubi but I'll check it out? A Monaro huh? Was considering a VXR8 since they're values started diving with the 'credit crunch'. That's a lot of CC's for your pound.

Unfortunatly for me I'm a pessimist frown

I just have this scenario in my head of:

engine/gearbox blows while you have exhaust. BMW don't play ball => goes to court. Numpty judge presented with BMW argument that exhaust equals more power.

More power = higher stressed engine/gearbox = modification that may have contributed/caused failure. Therefore no payout!

Oh and I've also read that statutory law does not apply to extended warranties......

Food for thought indeed????

Not surprisingly the Tubi exhaust sold yesterday lunchtime, within minutes.

The situation does stink tbh. BMW themselves make louder sports exhausts for the 325/330, fitted by the dealers and covered by warranty and yet for their most performance orientated products, nothing.

I mean they even sell a big brake kit for the 135i !
