Anyone have any thoughts?

"MAY" possibly be looking at going to Canada, game plan.

So,

1> My house here: Keep on rent to pay mortgage, my mortgage currently about £400/mth. (house is 2 bed end of terrace, large garden/off street parking an garage. would prolly leave it fully furnished. so ideas?

i) Thinking of either having the remainder of money sent to me OR all of it going to pay the mortgage early
ii) can i get an agent to deal (as I would be in canada)
iii) use as a nest egg/pension

2> OR sell the house bef4 I goto canada and pay off rest of mortgage (about £45k ? ish)

I'd be living there in another persons house, bills wouldnbt be a problem, off course I'd need to get a job ASAP, but I'm worried my age will be against me 43.

Any ideas generally, also ideas about Canada, stability, financial etc

Nest Egg. yes

Traditionally the exchange rate has been in favour of the £ vs the CAN$. Flog house upon retirement and it will be relatively worth more to you in Canada and should have grown in value more. I know the property market is st right now - but it won't be forever.

The Canadian economy is slowly moving towards recession but the general assessment is that it will be less severe and shorter than the UK. I have lived here for a long tme and its pretty civilized.
Suggest you check the Canadian tax consequences before deciding. Generally you are tax tfree on any profict n a principal residence, (if you are formally immigrating you will declare all property, and any proficts earned prior to immigration date are tax free in all circunstances.
House prices here are falling two and likely to continue for at least a year.Labour market strongest in the West and the Prairies, Toronto beginng to get hit by manyfacturing woes, though not yet a disaster

Just one thing to bear in mind that I failed to realise. Once you leave Englandshire, half your holidays are eaten up going back to the place to begrudgingly visit friends and family. Do your best to get them over your new gaff, but it's not easy for some folk to just jump on a plane.

I live in Toronto, it's a great place to live and there are few countries I'd want to call home as much as Canada.

Looking at this as an option too. Need to keep a close eye on the housing market first though, as I don't want to leap from one recession to another as I work in construction.

We are thinking about this as well but one thing i will be doing is NOT renting the house and paying a years mortgage (squatters is one thing on my mind bloody government)

This also means that if we dont like it then we have a house to return to in say a year. After that year sell it on. We have roughly £100k equity on it.

how do you mean? not renting,
will you be paying the mortgage here and also for a place in Canada?

Squatters ? surly only if the place is empty. If I get an agency to deal with this surly it shouldnt be a problem.
