How not to spend a Saturday morning
Discussion
I was going to title this post "Mines bigger than yours." It is, honestly.
Now I'm mostly not given to boasting, and given the nature of PH, its rare for anyone to accurately claim to have the biggest of something but I think there's a reasonable chance than in this case I have, or if not, it'll be fairly close.
It's eight feet long, four wide and three feet high. That's how large my compost heap is. I spent Saturday morning raking leaves from the lawn, a never ending task at this time of year. I'd raked half the lawn and at this stage the compost hep was full to overflowing, so five minutes of jumping up and down on it made room for plenty more leaves. Another half hour of raking and the heap was once again full and all the leaves were off the lawn. Satisfied of a job well done I retreated back to the house for a well earned cuppa.
Sensibly I'd locked the house before venturing down the garden. Unfortunately when I returned to the house the keys were no longer in my pocket. I thought for a while and it was fairly obvious where they most likely were. Bouncing on a compost heap with keys in your pocket is not a good idea.
So I spent an extra half hour rummaging through the leaves, slowly emptying them out a handful at a time until I finally located them. Not the best way to waste half an hour.
Anyone else done anything that they wished they hadn't this weekend?

I had to have my 4 year old cat put to sleep, r.i.p. mate

Mate, I'm gutted for you - 4 years is no age at all for a moggy....

poor moggy, and your family

He was a great cat, and was my first. He was found to have a brain tumor a few weeks back, after having a CT scan, and has been kept alive with steroids since. I woke yesterday to see him in a very bad way, within 2 hours of waking up he was put to sleep.
At least he didn't suffer, and had an amazing 4 years that he was here.
edited to add, thanks for the comments.

That's the main thing, knowing that you gave him as good a life as possible, and did the right thing by him. Doesn't make it any easier, though. At least he didn't suffer, and had an amazing 4 years that he was here.

My cat died in June, and I still watch where I'm walking to make sure I don't trip over him...

^^ If I had no respect or didn't like cats I would not have posted my condolences - I call all cats moggies, whether they're pure-bred or mix'n'match.

Easy tiger. Some cat fold would take it the wrong way. You know how people can be about breeds - It's like seeing a picture of Shegar and saying 'sorry your piebald died'

I'll not comment again, as this thread has gone way off topic!
Although losing a furry friend is way more of an issue than losing a set of keys..

Yep friday night. Decided to return my spare key to my mothers house (just in case I lock myself out), just round the corner so walked. No answer when I knocked on the door and the house was dark so posted the key though the letterbox. Walked home to find I didn't have my own keys on me. Looked though my kitchen window to see them on the side. Rang mum on mobile to find out where she was, went straight to answer phone. Was starting to think where the nearest Hotel was. I tried her home phone, she answered so I went back to pick up my key. Was a close one she is not around sometimes for weeks on end.
