After picking up my new Cerb last weekend, I could not resist today and took it out despite it being a bit damp on the roads
As you may remember, I am coming from a Porker Carrera 4 with permanent 4 wheel drive.
Nothing prepared me for how lose the Cerbie is around roundabouts and even coming out of T junctions turning onto the main carriageway!
Certainly brought a smile to my face, but the possibilities for getting yourself into a lot of trouble seem endless! Tyres are good so it must just be the light weight + lots of torque! Loved it! I am going to be good at drifting at this rate!!
On a different note, joined the dual carriageway in 2nd, floored it on a dry-ish road, and the back wheels just span up.... what an anmal this car is turning out to be
Can't wait for the dry and really see how it flies
Cheers all
Simon (Ps getting it machine polished next week to lose some of the swirls from the dreaded car washes)

Completely different car to be honest. Porsche was quick (fantastic in 3rd) but very safe and predictable. The fron end was heavy due to 4wd drivetrain and as such it used to understeer all day
The TVR is much more raw and a real sense of occasion whenever I drive it. I completely agree with your profile that you have to be aware of absolutely everything whenever you drive it - or else I am sure it will kill you!!

Good to hear of a TVR being used properly.
Not sure I'd class this as used properly! You obviously haven't been on the Cerb' forumover the winter. Exiting roundabouts seems to be one of the main reasons we see the demise of Cerbs'.
Take care they can be a hand full in the winter.
Oh, and if you want to use it properly, get yourself on track or come join us sprinting next year. far better than another wrecked TVR.

Hi i got my cerb around this time last year and every time it stopped raining i took it out desperate to check out the performance and kept on scaring the life out of myself. On a dry summers day the grip is so different though and the rears won't light up so much my mate has a cerrera 4 and its quick but the cerb is noticeably faster...enjoy and be patient!!

That IMHO is a pretty perfect summary. After nine years and 20,000 miles of happy ownership my Griffith tried to kill me recently on a damp road. By the grace of god (and I'm not religious) I wasn't hurt, and neither was the car or anybody else. Travelling sideways down the A12 was pretty scary, and my skid-pan practice didn't work, so please be very gentle with it in slippery conditions.

ouch... that happened recently or just a pic u found? is it yours?
Yep, that happened about three weeks ago, IIRC... something like that. We have lost a couple in the last few weeks, I think.
I drive like Miss Daisy unless it's bone dry and straight. Save the rest for the track.

But on the up side, its gone to the boys at surface and design for repair should be back in my hand soon

This thread is an interesting read, but think its important not to put perspective TVR owners off with the horror stories in adverse conditions.
IMHO TVR's are no worse than any other powerful rear wheel drive car. Yes they do slip and slide both with application of too much power for the conditions and from any sudden reduction in power especially mid corner. But if you drive to the conditions you'll be fine. I've owned TVR's since 1980, driven well over 150K miles in all conditions including snow and ice and never had an off I'd blame on the conditions.
My advice - enjoy the car to its full potential on track days in good weather, but don't be afraid to use it in bad weather, just drive smoothly.

Yes I know, the pic wasnt to put people off, more to put them off thrashing the balls off them in bad weather.....I for one have not been put off by what happened, i now realise the error of my ways, I gave it too much in bad weather (also oil on road, which didnt help the matter).....If anything, I would thoroughly recommend these cars to anyone, best car i've had by a long shot, I certainly will not look back.IMHO TVR's are no worse than any other powerful rear wheel drive car. Now you know you car can drift and have a feeling for how it can loose trackion .. well as others have said.
It will end in tears.
Only do it where you have spaces to recover any slide and in adverse conditions - drive it very carefully.. enough Cerbs get written off this time of year as it is
