South Africa- PAL, Region2, PS etc...

Mods... I put this here as it is a generic question of which I am hoping for an answer based on actual experience not just a Google Searched nerdy techy Computer response. Apologies if this is not ok.
I would like to give someone in South Africa my old Playstation2 (It's ok, I know them!)
DVDs are Region2 the same as the UK which is convenient as I can pass on watched ones we have kicking around the house no problems.
What I am more concerned about is whether the Playstation2 will work. Is the Power Supply the same? Or would some sort of converter be needed. Is that an easily obtainable item? Are their Televisions PAL or NTSC or something completely different?
Also... will Playstation Games purchased in South Africa work on my UK system?!
Lot's of questions I know but I would really like to give this person my old unused collecting dust PS2 with a load of games and for them to take it home (SA) plug it in and it work sweet as!
