We went earlier this year. Saw him in coventry, he described the place as the holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle show. Mother in law not impressed by the Princess Diana/ Camilla joke.

Saw him in Colchester a few weeks ago, he was funny in parts but his heart wasn't in it - end of a long tour.

Same joke in Colchester. He seems to have a lot of 'stock' jokes, watch Mock the week and you will hear most of his act.

Yea, alot of his jokes are from that, i went to see jason manford and he was exactly the same, all his jokes were from 8 out of 10 cats.

I think the only one who constantly comes up with fresh material is jimmy carr?...

Bremner Bird and Fortune? That's normally pretty cutting edge stuff.

Its enormously difficult for comics to come up with new material constantly, hence why Bob Monkhouse was thrown into turmoil when he lost his book of jokes and offered a reward for its return.

Jackie Mason used to say he went on stage to do a 90 minute show with 5 hours worth of material in his head, he went through his entire career like that, with the same 5 hours of material, the art was mixing it all together seemlessly.

French and Saunders at the very start of their career, before the Comic Strip did a live show that they used to change every single day, it was only after about 3 weeks of this highly onerous task that they realised the crowd changed every day and they didnt really have to.

We saw him in Halifax and his heart wasn't in it. He did say he was suffering a bit that night, but I would have thought he could have managed an encore. Bit disappointed really.

Yeah, heard him on the radio yesterday and he said he always uses new material. He said a cracker while he was on

got Boyles DVD and yes some of the stuff is recycled but I love the insults to the audience and the stockbroker jibes were quite funny (somalian landmines etc..)

I did manage to find on iPlayer once a "too hot to show" version of Mock the week which was all the cuts from the shows which were too close to the bone, and it was fantastic.

You see Snow Patrol in Later with Jools Holland and they play some songs. Then you go and see them live and they are playing the SAME songs!!! Then......you go and see them live again a few weeks later at another venue and they are playing the SAME fkING SONGS!!!!! Unbelievable.....something needs to be done about these so called artists, fleecing the puiblic like this.......

Bill Bailey was on tv the other week talking about never mind the buzzcocks and how they were very strict on stopping them using their stand up material on the show. I had heard most of Frankie's jokes already from watching mock the week.

If you want to see a comic who's changes most his act every night go and see Dara. Plays off the audience so much that most of it has to be made up on the spot. Genuinely funny when I saw him at the Hammersmith earlier in the year.

Same joke in Carlisle hehe Although probably accurate...

I think parts of it were good but as others said, I 'd heard most of the jokes before, apart from the really offensive ones. smile

His warm up guy was good.

I watched it the other night and was a little bored, as others have said most of his material has already been done Mock The Week.

The latest Bill Bailey is quite clever, but again a little boring I found. I loved his last DVD and while the majority of the lastest DVD is new, it felt as if I had heard it before, if that makes sense.

The latest Jimmy Carr DVD is really good, very very funny, with only one section which dies a bit (you'll know when you watch it)

I get bored of these comedian threads.

Consistent back and forth of "They're great" and "No, they're st".

Any successful comedian isn't st. They are good by default of being successful; HOWEVER, they might not appeal to your sense of humour.

I can't stand Ricky Gervais, Ricky Tomlinson or Peter Kaye, for example.

None of them are st, they just don't conform to MY kind of humour.

Ricky Tomlinson isn't a comedian.

Frankie Boyle plays The Stand in Edinburgh quite regularly. Tiny, very intimate venue - great place! Seen him there a few times and enjoyed every performance.
