Today I took my younger brother to the airport as he has emigrated to Australia. Am feeling a bit sad at the moment but I know it is an amazing opportunity for him. It got me to wondering how many of us have family in Oz!

My sister is living there for 3 months, and then in NZ for 2 months - does that count wink.

I have 10 of my family in Australia, all around the Sydney area. Some have been here on holiday, or on business (my cousin drives the boat for the Aussie womens water-ski race team) and I have visited there once.
They seem to have a much better lifestyle than us!

Me. All of them. I moved here. Frankly, a brilliant move, this is a fabulous country.
Back home in Oz is good too, he'll have a fabulous time.

Miss family and friends a bit, especially around Xmas. And also currently during messy break up.

Oh well. Nothing a few real ales can't sort. Did I mention how good the beer is here as well?? And the countryside? And the restaurants, and travel, and pubs, and museums ...

Yeah, this is a great spot.

My BiL is over there with his family and to be honest, I wouldn't waste a holiday going to Oz when there are so many great places to go to....

Have tried to get him to meet us half way but he wont budge out of that place so we are ina bit of a stalemate! No doubt SWMBO will give in and we will go before he comes back.

My sister and her boyfriend moved out there in September 2006.
She lives about an hour drive away from Fremantle, near Perth.

I don't speak to her much but I believe (from Mum) that she is enjoying home and work life much more than she did in Manchester.

Also her standard of living is far better than it was here. She has a 5 bedroomed detached house with about 2 acres of land. It costs £750 pcm in rent.

They have 3 cars, a motorbike and a RIB which they could never have afforded if they stayed in the UK.
Good luck to anyone that moves there I say.

Brother, his wife and their three children live out in Oz. Melbourne to be precise. He loves it, she hates it and their children like it too - though this is likely to be just the novelty. Personally, probably wont get out there I am afraid. Hell of a long way and I fly regularly, so its the last thing I want to do. Also, he is a damn sight older than me and hence I hardly know him.

Oh, and his wife is a complete bh.

hehe

I have a sister who is married to an Ozzie. She has been over there a couple of years now. She has had far better opportunities with her career over there. (Though she was sponsored by a company who treated her like st, so bad that immigration stepped in to help her.) SHe is now sponsored by her hubby)

My husbands brother also lives in Australia (Both my sis and his brother live in Sidney!) he has been over there about 10 years and is now married to a New Zealander and they have a 3 year old boy. He would never move back to England though he made a living the hard way, working many many hours and in many jobs. They may move to New Zealand because her family is still there.

I also have a cousin who has just emmigrated to New Zealand with her hubby and I think they are there to stay, they spent a long time making the plans and getting the papers etc to move there.

We have just been over for the first time to see our siblings, had a great time enjoyed the place but currently not planning to join them! I think my parents would if they could though, they fell in love with the place when they visited. If they did I think I'd have to!!

If you want to stay in touch get skype on your computers and web cam it's an excellent way to seem close to them even though there is thousands of miles between you smile

I have but I never see them. Great Uncle married an Australian. All descended from criminals, you know. Gives the family a bad name.

What a refreshing comment to read. Too often people run down the UK. Good on you Cactussed.
