Just seen this as breaking news, a 3 month old and a 3year old have been stabbed to death in manchester, not much in the way of details as yet. A 21 year old woman has been arrested under suspision of murder. How can anyone do this to another human, never mind a baby and a toddler. A terrible week in the news with the baby P case, and now this. What is this world coming to.

BBC story..

BBC NEWS

The news channels seem to think that 'guiness world record day' is more news worthy than this. Bit of an early morning piss boiler!

Why don't these sick people get themselves sterilised if they don't want the responsibility of children?

Didn't I read somewhere that women can possibly get off on manslaughter for the murder of practically anyone, even their own kids, citing post-natal depression?

Infanticide - nothing new.

Gets reported more these days due to the 'heart tugging appeal' of these news stories on 24 hour news channels. Also, the frightening figures are that something like 90% of all murder victims are related to or know well their murderer. Hence the reason why the Police focus on the friends, family and work colleagues of the victim as the most likely group of people for the perpetrator to come from.

In the case of infanticide - its almost always the parents.....

Only if it's manslaughter they are guilty of, and it is indeed caused by post-natal depression.
It's not a default 'right' because you are a mother as wherever you read that seems to imply.

Ah smile

Presumably same situation as people who claim 'diminished responsibility'?

No it doesnt make it right, however there are certain thing that happen in life that you can do nothing about, they just happen. This could have been a very tragic case of the mother having a mental block/seizure and going crazy.

It might have just happened with no malicious intentions what so ever, so you need to get the facts before anyone is accused of doing if for "gains or murder"

This happened a couple of miles up the road from where I live.

Very sad situation.

Apparently the woman has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act for 30 days.

She had allegedly been walking round the town centre claiming "the bombs are going to get us" or something similar.
(haven't read the link so apologies if that is mentioned in there)

Just been on local news that a few months ago the mother of these two lads had abandoned one of them in a doctors surgery which lead to social workers becoming involved.

The kids were never classed as "At risk" and social workers were subsequentally (after 5 months) taken off the case.

Such a shame.
